Is Yze an asset or a problem?

I’m genuinely trying to give him the benefit of the doubt so I’m no hater of Yze at all, but our offence and midfield are just so inept. Last time our forward line was this bad was in the early 60s. Midfield is so slow too, and he’s choosing this midfield. I can’t help but wonder whether there are better coaches that could get our side to perform better.

Hard question to answer IMO with all the injuries that occur, but I’m probably not 100% on the Yze train like I was a few weeks ago. I’m starting to have my doubts

Wasn't able to watch but how did Alger go? Saw he snagged a couple.

First goal marked on the goal post and toe poked it in. Second was a classical set shot free kick. He was part of some nice forward plays, did well. Keep him in.

Steven Morris will be our new head coach in 2027

Don't judge him on this season too much. Hopefully he's just coaching our base game plan this year, nothing fancy, no real plans B etc.
They can build on that over the next preseaon and give last years draft crop another full preseason and hopefully see a bit more variety in middle.
Just remember also, if they were playing more youth in the centre we would prbe copping bigger defeats, I'm sure that wouldn't go down well either.

When Prestia and Hopper have 29 and 28 touches and we still get absolutely belted out of the middle that just sums up what's wrong at the club right now.

Also Lynch with only 2 touches today, better off playing Sims or Fawcett for their 4 touches each.

The wheels seem to have come off the last 3 games, going to be a long finish to the year. Reality is we’re the worst team in it at the moment. Banks, Prestia did well, nice to see Alger get a couple of goals. If Green and Sonsie keep playing then I’m starting to lose faith in the coach. It’ll be a tough finish to the year but give the supporters some hope with Hotton and Smillie when fit. Watching some of these list cloggers get games every week is just treading water on the massive rebuild needed. We need to keep targeting the first round of the draft, don’t trade out picks in next two years at least.

At some stage I’d like to get away from playing safe football, pretty uninspiring when we have the ball right now, I get it we don’t have the cattle but we don’t seem to be implementing a game plan that will win games in future currently.

I’ll crack it if we extend his contract before well into next year.
Personally I don’t think he is gonna be it.

Yep I’m holding fire for as long as possible, I think his strengths are he can contain absolute 100 pt beltings, and the young players seem to respond well to him.

His weaknesses are definitely not changing anything mid-game, playing too safe and a game plan that does not currently suit today’s game.

I think at least we let him see out his contract and re assess after that

Realistic here for a moment. Did you truly believe we would be performing better? Anyone that does is kidding themselves. Last season and this were always going to be a struggle. Yze was left with the majority of our squad that’s on the club not so much him.

Ross into the midfield was nice (something many of us have been calling for), Alger getting 2 goals was nice, Banks was okay. No other positives.

I still see very few green shoots, Faull has 0 goals from last 7 games, Green disappointing, Brown disappointing, Sonsie disappointing, Mansell disappointing, Trainor disappointing (gets a pass given as he's in his first year and being moved about), Blight disappointing (gets a pass for his first game back and trial by fire), Lefau is 27 and never played that well... I don't even know why we're bothering with him tbh.
