Pretty hard to take a contested mark when your hands are getting pinned behind your back
Thats Good Robert Deniro GIF

Went to the game even thought it was looking like it was going to be a wet weather day - it was only "wet weather" in the way we play. First things first ;

If Tom Lynch played for Collingwood, Hawthorn or Bulldogs today he would have kicked 3-4 goals and not been reported.

I'm glad Yze mentioned the four dodgy frees in "marking contests" around the 10 min mark of the third. It's about time this sort of "bad umpiring" gets called for what it is.

Alger, Banks, Ross, Prestia and Broad were good for us. This is where we are as a team - losing badly but also not having our best side out there week by week. No Lynch against the Scats will be a tough lesson for our inexperienced forwards.

Resist the temptation to blood Hotton next week. Give him a full game at VFL, but time to make changes and I hope Lalor is available. Sonsie is not a forward, not a midfielder and not an AFL standard player. Green and Mansell putrid (again).

Only 24K at the ground but it seems to be much less. Mostly due to performance, but the way the club has shafted Reserve Seat members by moving us to the wing so far into the MCG we are almost in the toilets. No wonder the crowds are not going.

Out - Lynch (sus), LeFau (inj), Sonsie (delist), Green
In - Sims, Short, Lalor, MRJ

I would try Blight up forward.
Reserve seats in the Warnie Stand ain't that bad.

How do you know Sonsie is not a midfielder? We never give him a chance there. Taranto and Hopper can spend game after game kicking the ball to the opposition and that's OK but lets not try playing Sonsie in the midfield where he was showing promise before we recruited Hopper and Taranto. Is the club afraid that if he succeeds, they will be forced to make a decision on one of them or Prestia.
I like your insights but my worry with Sonsie is that he reminds me of Tambling. Always worried about contact/getting tackled so even when he is not under immediate pressure he thinks he might be and can’t execute his skills effectively. Gonna be hard for that to be different in the midfield. If the club was worried about playing him in midfield coz it would show up our dynamic trio they wouldn’t have played McAuliffe in there.

Thought Ross was half decent also.

At least Ross actually got some clean clearances, didn't panic and found someone in space. Stark contrast to our other mids.

I honestly cant remember ever watching another side that misses so many handballs. Handballing to players feet from 1m away, and we must handball direct to the opposition close to 20 times a game. Driving me insane.

Have to give it to Ross he doesnt panic. So many of our players had the fumbles and just wanted to make the ball someones elses problem. Ross at least takes it upon himself to make things happen.

Some uplifting words from Yze

Tigers look ahead as developmental fast track continues

Richmond coach Adem Yze hopes his young players can develop like Sunday's opposition in the near future.

Richmond coach Adem Yze has declared he hopes his young side can learn from Adelaide's developing players, after Sunday's 68-point loss at the MCG.

Despite the heavy loss, the coach explained how some of the Crows' stars provide somewhat of a blueprint for how the Tigers' youngsters need to develop, and as proof of the good that is to come for Richmond.

"We've just come up against a really good footy team and their polish and execution was better than ours," Yze said post-match.

"Our entries, we didn't maximise ours, but Jonty Faull is going to be better for it. Down their end, Riley Thilthorpe (Adelaide forward) kicks five and looks like a man mountain. But he's in his fourth or fifth year. Jonty's in his first. That's the type of player we need him to become.

"Luke Trainor's standing on Daniel Curtin, and Daniel Curtin's in his third year. And he's (Trainor) commented to me in the third quarter saying how big he is. But that's how quick it can change.

"We're trying to fast track, not only the development of our players to make them feel like they belong on an AFL field, but they need to fill in their bodies."

Richmond managed to return to parts of its brand of football after a poor opening half, with Yze saying it was pleasing to see the response and investment from the playing group.

"Our boys are frustrated and disappointed," he said.

"To have two goals at half time was pretty bleak, not a lot of excitement in our game. To respond in the right way and keep trying to play our way and get some energy, celebrate little things like Jasper Alger kicking his first goal and Luke Trainor kicking his first goal.

"Little moments like that felt like they still cared, which is all I can ask while we're going through what we're going through."

There were some negatives out of Yze's control, particularly when forced to shuffle the magnets to fill the hole left by forward Mykelti Lefau, who sustained a calf injury in his first AFL match in 393 days.

"Mykelti going out of the game is almost the perfect storm. We lost a guy that's going to give us a contest forward of the ball, we then had to move Noah (Balta) forward, which I thought he did really well," Yze said.

"It was really disappointing, not only for today, but for the body of work (Lefau's) put in over the last month to put himself in a position to pretty much get straight back in.

"It showed how important he is to us in that aerial battle, when he did go out of the game. We did miss him."

"We'll be looking always to the future, but at the same time, right now we expect to put on a performance that our Tiger Army are proud of. The last couple of weeks, that hasn't been the case. We need to address that, train hard, go down to Geelong and do what we need to do," he said.

"The spirit is going to get dented when we feel like we're playing the right way and our execution at our front end is not as good as theirs'. That's okay, we can work on that, we can train that and build into that.

"I'd be more worried if our spirit, our energy and our system went out of whack and our players didn't look like they cared. That's something we won't tolerate."

Richmond take on the Cats at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday at 4.15pm.

Don't think you quite grasped my comment. Miller looked like a toothpick and was monstered by Thilthorpe.
I reiterate purely based on his size, strength "build-wise" and his good spoiling technique.
Please, he was hardly monstered. He kept him to one goal in 3 quarters (the other was on Balta) and Thilthorpe kicked some junk time snags on him as we were waiting for the siren.

Did anyone see Miller spray Sonsie in the last? Was when Sonsie fumbled on our HFF because he was afraid of contact and went straight down the other end for a goal. Miller roasted him.

How fast is Shorty?

Could they throw him in the midfield mix as an outside runner/kick i50 type? Our midfield is already shite so could be worth an experiment?

Surprise, surprise, Matty Lloyd says "3-4 weeks for Lynch," and Damo chimes in and says "Nah, FIVE."

Deadset flog. My fault for listening.
I'd like the MRO to come out and comment that under the circumstances given the tactics employed by butts and the neglect of the field umpire to ajudiciate it's understandable that TomLynch had a mental health episode, in view of the negligible contact , 1week, case closed ,,,,, nexxxxxxt

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it but the top 8 & top 4 more so have had the majority of their teams play together for an extended time.
We have new players across all lines. This is very important in being predictable to each other & team confidence in each other. Remember how often Dimma used to mention that? We are a little while from that and will also transition more experienced players out over the next 2 to 3 years. This is part of what a rebuild takes... It's made the 3 wins all the more sweeter...

Lol, Balta went forward and rotating ruck after Lefau went off. Miller was on him all day. I saw him out-mark Miller on multiple occasions. Just too strong. He's not the first nor the last to be beaten soundly. It happens.
I think it was a bad match-up. 10 kgs difference is huge.

Sonsie is another story which I agree he does shit himself but im happy they have given him some midfield time to see if he's up to it.
