We really could have been a chance at doing something good in the next couple games against Essendon and WC if our talented young players weren't injured. Lalor creates so many opportunities for us but will have missed 2/3rds of the season. I just wanted to see him and Hotton (please stay healthy) play together. I'm really hoping it's not a reoccurring issue in the future. Even if it isn't (I'm concerned), it still sucks that we are going to miss out on more development and getting to watch Lalor play. We're so boring without him.

How is pick 2 going?

FOS plays, not great, but I'm very partial to players that play!

We are playing the long game, sure, but the extent of the risk we have taken has already become apparent.

Again, it is another game that highlights where we are at. Tired kids and cooked veterans on the same day.

MRJ was great for 4 quarters. Creative and was always on the move. Mansell hit the scoreboard and Banks keeps building his season. Brown was ok in patches.

At least once a quarter we went end to end only to have the shot at goal missed. These 35m shots at goal are a huge issue for us - limited opportunities need reward.

Shattered for Lalor. Alger didn't look right before quarter time and Hugo was gone by 3/4 time. Down on rotations, at least we showed some fight in the last quarter.

Just hope Gibcus and Hotton get through tomorrow's game.

Always looked inboard first and backed our ourselves if it was on

Some very pleasing individual performances too

• Huge break out game from MRJ, best game for the club by a mile
• Same for Mansell, exceptional game
• Tom brown got more of the ball, was more proactive and daring
• Banks crushing, so reliable now
• Campbell more of the ball since he’s hitting the middle a bit
• Ross and Prestia great couple weeks in a row

• Hugo soft as shit
• Sonsie better but too timid
• Balta “keep it simple stupid”

I wish Maurice could play that way every time he's selected. Reaped a lot of reward for effort today. He's shown plenty of grit, run, and chase in the past but just has those nothing games where he's MIA.

On the other hand, Balta just looked lost at sea in the forward line. I'm not sure we need him up there, even in Lynch's absence. Faull and Sims showed some good glimpses and Mansell was slick. Let the young fellas have the forward line to themselves and see how they go.

The only position for Balta is ruck! Said it for years. He has no nous. Run to where the ball is bounced is as much as he can take on (up top) and he competes well once there. Otherwise pretty useless

It’s something to look back on in 3 - 5 seasons now
Talent wise Lalor has been insane in the games played and justified the pick

Smillie wasn’t a risk it’s just been unfortunate

• Lalor 2 hammy's this year, including lasting 1 minute after a 7 week rehab.
• Armstrong 12 week hammy recovery. Who knows if he plays again this year.
• Smillie did a hammy in December, has barely played since. 24-30 week recovery (not an exxageration).

Good thing Serpell had the team running like idiots with their hands on their hips during the pre-season.
