My take is they’re playing it smart ,,, VERY smart . That is zero updates on his status , dusty would respect that more than anything
Although pretty easy considering Dusty himself wouldn't know his 'status' as it likely changes from am to pm every day. He is taking a break - could be 1 week, could be 1 year or more. The media will keep asking, and no doubt, as you said, the club will keep to the message - 'when he wants to come back, he's welcome'! No doubt plenty of paparazzi chasing him around unfortunately. That's the life of a superstar though.

Agree ... Glad we are not taking the path of a certain other club that has put one of their midfield greats onto the HFF and is having zero impact.

I was confident Cotch would take r1 and park it, and come out r2 and play his usual 'attach the pill with ferocity' approach. He won't win the Brownlow, but he'll impact many games well through the year, while developing the next midfield group.
One of our pillars in regards to the way we play is that when it's your turn to go, you go. No questions asked, no hesitations. If we start allowing Cotchin to skate through because of his legacy, but then drop a kid in their first/second season or a lesser established player because they didn't go when it was their turn, it sends a poor message to the group and that is when things start to fracture within the playing list, because players start getting disgruntled because of preferential treatment.

If we want to maintain our era of success, we have to do it by not letting standards drop, whether it's a 3 time premiership captain in the twilight or a highly rated kid making their way into the senior side. You demand the same from everyone who steps on to the field and when they fail to perform you call it out. As a senior player Cotchin would have known what he produced against Carlton wasn't to the standard he'd like to play at and you could tell he was hell bent on making amends, but it can't be an exception to rule. He needs to play at as high a level as he can week to week to maintain his spot and he'd know that as well as anyone. Same goes for a lot of our older guys, because there are a group of hungry young talent eager for an opportunity.

This is not a disrespect thing, it's a fact of life for all footballers, if you don't perform, then you don't hold your spot and the players would know this better than anyone.

I think having Flynn go solo really hurt you guys
He really battled but when he was up against two full time rucks you could tell he was spent by the end of the game and Richmond also capitalised when he was resting

Will be interesting if Preuss gets the call up next week I think it could really help you guys make the most of that awesome midfield

This Spud has been on a list for 6 years and will be 27 years old this year and made $3 million dollars for a total of
18 games 9 goals at 3 clubs FMD !!!

Is it wrong that I kind of found it amusing that had Davis been chasing Lunch or Jack he would have caught them easier and it was only Balta's little fumble that kept Phil in the frame and then his pace that meant he had to make that final lunge that pinged his string?

I like Phil Davis so good luck to him but that was an actual proper sliding doors moment (Dammo)

Richmond v Greater Western Sydney

9 Noah Balta (RICH)
7 Shai Bolton (RICH)
6 Jayden Short (RICH)
3 Trent Cotchin (RICH)
2 Tom Green (GWS)
2 Marlion Pickett (RICH)
1 Nathan Broad (RICH)

Smart by Dima to give Tom Green couple token votes to show him we care
Brownie Points

4 tall forwards is too slow. Especially if one is jack

One of the rucks seem to be forward often
I disagree (respectfully )

having Jack in the foward line causes massive issue's for the opposition in matching up, They need to have their best defender on Jack / Lynch and this gives Balta the 3rd defender which he can exploit. Dont forget that GWS lost Davis and thats when the game opened up for Balta.

I have no issue having a 3 tall fwd line + 2 Ruckman due to Balta flexibility in playing different positions
We now have 4 players on the bench and a sub to have the ability to rotate players like Balta

Balta , Jack , Lynch,Soldo,Nank,Tarrant,Gibcus, grimes = 8 Talls usually spending 10 minutes a game on the bench each and Balta can ply in all these positions.

Who are the 3 tall defenders to matchup on at StKilda

Reckon it was Cameron who gave Green votes. Reckon Dimma would have voted
5. Noah
4. Bolton
3. Cotchin
2. Pickett
1. Short

Which leaves Camerons votes as

His move to Melbourne was the weirdest one
Wanted more opportunities and was behind Goldstein who was the best ruck in the comp at that point and decides to join Melbourne who was just as good if not better than goldy

Makes no sense

GWS have been in the comp long enough, they’ve played plenty of big finals and they’ve got star players everywhere. So to serve up such an insipid performance tells me plenty about that footy club.
Easy out is to blame Cameron but it’s much deeper than that. No one cares. They are soulless.
I could go on but one theory is that locked away up there they don’t get the scrutiny and therefore the heat put on them to perform. They are making plenty of money but have no passion for each other. Our supporter base and the media would go bananas if the Tiges dished up that crap.
They do this regularly and it’s bad for the game. There was no atmosphere, no booing, no scuffles…nuthin. Our heavily depleted team bought some heat to the game and had these imposters covered…early.
Fold them.

I agree to a large extent on the "soulless" take, but I think to some degree it's mostly their older 'stars' (the exception being Davis), there's a way more genuine bond among the younger brigade. Certainly was a puzzling performance after they really had a red hot crack against Sydney, that was one of the toughest contested games in recent years.

Stands to reason that the 'G is a nightmare venue for them, first time back since the GF massacre.

One bloke who could hold his head up after the game was Isaac Cumming, he's going to end up among the best handful of medium rebounding defenders in the comp.

And Green was good without starring. Nice taste for him of how sweet it could be to play in front of decent crowds, for a decent club, at the home of football. ;)

Kid still wears Richmond socks to bed.

Bring him home as he has suffered enough

Na it’s 100% Dima’s style to give Tom Green votes there
