Does this mean we'll now break/equal the record for most indigenous players in a side?

  1. Michael Johnson
  2. Danyle Pearce
  3. Jon Griffin
  4. Brad Hill
  5. Stephen Hill
  6. Michael Walters
  7. Brady Grey
  8. Joel Hamling

Not playing:
  • Harley Bennell
  • Alex Pearce

The record is seven I'm pretty sure held jointly by Port and Freo

Melbourne beat them without a recognised ruck, and weve still got griffen so i think we are still in with a shot.

Yeah, makes sense. This is where we need to start managing players, especially Sandi and any others with serious niggles or we're going to blow them up by the later stages of the season. We kind of need Sandi to go around one more year, that means leaving him out this year more often than we'd like. I'm happy with that myself, means they're thinking long term.

Of course, makes this week's game even less likely, but still, I'll take it.

Am I only the one who thinks Darcy will play, not Griffin?
On form he should play as he has been more consistent over the whole season but do you throw a first game ruck against Jacobs, who is arguably one of the best rucks in the comp this year? I'd love to see him play but the Griff is the safer, more conservative choice

Griffin’s inclusion is likely to mean that eight indigenous players will represent the Dockers in Indigenous round.Griffin will join the Hill brothers, Danyle Pearce, Joel Hamling, Brady Grey, Michael Walters and Michael Johnson in the team.

Hamling and Grey.. what!!! Awesome

Griff to put in a blinder for indigenous round, he will cherish the opportunity to play in this round .

Agree, big Jon will not let us down. With Charlie Cameron and Eddie Betts and Langdon out I am not sure I like our coverage for their small forwards. Options would be to swing Grey back into defense and replace him on the HF line with someone or bring in another defender capable of playing on the small/medium types - i.e. Sherridan or Ryan. Suban if picked would be better on HF than in defense surely.

Yes.

Lyon flat out said Griffin is playing.
To expand on that:

Lyon added that scans had confirmed that the injury wasn't serious.

“He’s just tightened up in the hamstring,” Lyon said.

“It’s just a bit weaker than we would like. The scan was cleared but it was a bit weaker. We need to get him strong again.

“Hopefully, (one week out) is what we’re aiming for.”

Lyon said Jon Griffin was the most likely replacement for Sandilands.

“We’re bringing in (Jon) Griffin, and he’ll execute his role,” Lyon said.

“Everyone brings something different to the table, Jon plays with a real passion and he’s carried the number one ruck spot years ago for us when Aaron’s been out and he’s done really well. We don’t expect any different.”

Some peoples perception of Griffin is scewed because we were trying to play him as a forward/ruck chopping out with Sandi. Played as the #1 ruck and not asked to be a forward most of the time he will be fine as he was before his knee injury a few years ago. Has been in very solid form for Peel. Just a pity Peel has a bye as Darcy could of had a full game in the ruck otherwise.

Salty Darcy doesn't get a run. We must get him a game or 2 this year, don't care if his fitness isn't there yet.

I'd be inclined to bring in Collins for Igbo. Allows us to better handle the Crows talls and Johnno/Tabs can both chop him out.

How has Darcy been more consistent than Griff???

Well it's pretty clear we shouldn't be dropping Hughes anytime soon :) But not so good that we won't have Sandi this weekend :(

Bring in Sam Collins and ruck with taberner with relief from Johnson??

How does that work unless you are putting MJ or Collins up forward when Taberner is in the ruck for most of the game. You are taking out our tallest forward for a KPD. Just don't understand the reasoning really.
