Totally agree with you regarding Zappa. There's much he foretold about the shallowness of society. And his band arrangements and his guitar playing is a joy.

Thinking man's music.
Glad to hear of another fan here. Definitely thinking music. Not as much available at present.
Some, but little

Why did Smith get dropped? I thought we were all in agreement that he wasn’t the problem last week.

I would have dropped Murdoch/Gregson than Horlo. We need a defensive mid to curb Ed Curnow. He wasn’t the worst last week.

Hey Cat fans

I'm a passionate Blues man and I have a podcast to (hopefully) keep track of our improvement throughout 2018

I interviewed a passionate Geelong member about this week's game. It was great to learn more about how you guys expect excellence from your group.

Let me know what you think:

Thanks for stopping by.

Your timing is a bit off, unfortunately as we're having a 'robust discussion' about how one of our best defenders is apparently terrible.

I'll give it a listen tomorrow. Solid effort putting together a regular podcast - congrats!

Did someone point out its Murda’s 100th game if he isn’t a last minute out?

Poor old Murda; god he gets crap on this board. No doubt deserved but still he’s had his moments.

VW,
What you have just stated regarding Blitz is absolutely true, he does have a natural competitiveness that enables him to succeed in almost any role.
(fanatical runners mentality)
Saying that, l must totally disagree with your preference for him to ruck. l believe it's an often overstated role and one which can be covered by a specialist rather than Mr fixit Mark Blicavs.
Secondly l'm sick and tired of Scott using him to plug every immediate problem not allowing him to settle down back and hone his game in a role he's obviously suited to, key defense.
I personally think Scott is ruining his career from one which could be great to mediocrity, he just won't allow him to settle.
Chances are we might not require him to defend against Carlton, but if Taylor starts getting done by Casboult, or Curnow gets loose, Scott will panic and Mark will have to fix the problem again, nothing surer!
And the midfield need to stand up and take a few bruises that's their issue, they're not ruthless enough, and run as individuals unlike say Richmond etc. I don't think MB needs to be further burdened, expecting him to be the answer to their lack of cohesiveness and inspiration.
No, IMO even play Abbott, if he's in form give him his chance in the role he trains for, and let MB develop into the best key defender in the competition.
Let HT battle for a spot with the rest, it's no good hiding him down back, also keeps the others on their game for their position in the team and a second tall option.
I reckon Blitz should be our no1 tall defender not HT, Blitz is by far the best proposition moving forward without doubt imo and needs more game time in that role.
Appreciate your insights, l think we both understand his importance to the team one way or another.

Brilliant!

You've said everything I think, but couldn't express, + you've covered all the issues regarding Blitz.

Gives us a lot of targets, just have to get it in there enough.
What we need is to have our senior forward line in there for the first time this year. Then I'll be excited
It's not about getting it in there enough, it is keeping it there
The Parfitt, Fogarty, McCarthy, Cockatoo group would make sure that happened
It just keeps getting taken out of there at present and put quickly back in our back half

Do you think we'd be able to play Hawkins, Menzel, Crameri and Ratugolea all in the same team if Ratugolea was also the 2nd ruck?

I reckon you could but you'd need to separate
Menzel and TH
Play TH CHF, Sav FF, Crameri HFF and Menzel restricted to high fwd FP.
Other than that probably three of those.

FWIW I'm more convinced than ever that Jed Bews is an excellent defender and unlike some people when I say I'm done.... I'm done, goodnight:D

Sav’s ‘lack of tank’ seems a common comment, can’t run out full game etc. Ran out the Collingwood one pretty well....as a forward mind you, but he is not exactly blowing up.
SavRat's endurance has improved dramatically since his first game + continues to get better, just like his game

We can look forward to many Murders in the future then.
Unlike Blakey.
He'll have to mate with another Geelong player's ex and get in on the Mother son route.
Something like Gary Lyon is trying. Personally I think he is desperate to get over Melbourne
Bit extreme though.

Need Sav up forward to actually create a contest and demand a defender away from Hawkins.

Can't Crameri +/or Menzel + the player replacing SavRat while playing #2Ruck?

I'm hoping I'm talking about this kid in 15 years time
He is an outstanding prospect

Forgive me, did I misinterpret your post?

Oh dear, in 15 years time I'll be dead :innocent::cloud::praying: or :devil::fireemoji: :musicnotes::violin::musicnotes::ghost::hourglass::skull: :joycat::joycat::joycat:

Just adore Sav, so inspiring + so enthusiastic - Kelly + Fogarty too.

Reckon he'll go well, every time he's out they carn't wait to get him back the following week.

Exactly right, Mr President + my fellow founding member of the SavRat Fan Club ;)

Love his game + doing a great job as #2Ruck - what do you think of him playing #1Ruck? I'd prefer he continue his current role, but in the future ???

Problem is you don't

You lost the argument and you could not handle it. Thats tough for you. Nothing I said would I be scared to say to your face. Get over it you lost one you will come back harder next week.
Literally nobody agrees with you.
There are multiple pages of people stating an assortment of reasons why Bews should be in the team, despite possibly some indifferent form.
You've said (and I'm summarising here cause I know you're a stickler for words) not much more than "he doesn't get enough possessions".

If you make an assertion like that you'd better back it with some thoughtful insight or at the very least a statistical alternative, neither of which you have provided. That strategy does not equal you winning any sort of football argument let alone this one.

No1 ruck?..not much!.....CHF/FF/ruck support yes!
He's only 19 atm, and Scott wants him everywhere it seems.
A steady development curve is what l-d prefer than what's happening now.
Talk about throwing in the deep end.
