In: Ryder, Amon, Howard, Rockliff

Out: Ladhams, Farrell, Bonner, Drew

This is the last roll of the dice so we need to up our experience level. Westhoff would have to be under consideration as he played well on the weekend but his inclusion with Ryder and Howard might make us too top heavy. Sam Powell-Pepper also had a good game for the Magpies but he needs to work on his game. Wines had a shocker against the Bulldogs and will need to lift but he has the runs on the board and hopefully will be better for that outing.

We went into the Bulldogs game with seven first season players and that is hard to carry.

I can't see Motlop or S Gray being dropped this week. There's going to be some fair old melts come Thursday.

I expect

IN: Dougal, Amon, Westhoff, Rockliff
OUT: Ladhams, Drew, Farrell, Garner (Houston to move to half back)

We really failed at selection on the weekend and i don't say that often.

All Rockliff did was a hammy and was made to go through the two's. 57 possessions later in conditions that suited his style, ummmm yeah i think he was ready to go.

SPP is also a very good wet weather footballer in a team full of players that are terrible at it. Even if he came straight back out for showdown, he is a wet weather footballer that should've played. Horses for courses.

Westhoff in for Howard was a no brainer too, once again conditions that would've suited him, he hasn't even been that bad but has been played out of position. That's twice now picking Ladhams has been a massive flop in our two worst team performances for the year. I feel for him this time as the conditions weren't for him and made his inclusion even more baffling.

Dougal, Amon, Westhoff, Rockliff will all definitely come in

Ladhams, Drew and Farrell will definitely go out, and one more, which prob should be motlop but like Coobk001 has mentioned will probably be Garner.

Why does everyone say this. What runs exactly does he have on the board. A stint of maybe 12 games early on in his career where he got 30 touches (at a DE of less than 50%).

Wines is a terrible AFL footballer. Drop him, trade him, make him lose wieght and become a tagger, but don't leave him in our midfield just because he has some imaginary runs on the baord.

I reckon you are right.
What are your thoughts on either Houston or Burton moving to HFF?

Would make the call on Ollie. The ankle injury has derailed him. So Rocky is in.
Not keen on SPP yet going by comments on thr the SANFL game day thread. Of course hes better than anyone at that level but still needs to show his game has changed a little..
Maybe leave Justin another week as well.

Didn't Kane mention Jonas was on thin ice at selection last week? If so.....

Motlop/Ollie/Jonas out.

Time to axe a skipper? Port, Crows to make big Showdown calls
PORT Adelaide co-captain Ollie Wines could be watching Showdown 47 from the grandstand as the inconsistent Power prepare to swing the changes ahead of Saturday's crucial clash with cross-town rival Adelaide at Adelaide Oval.
The possible additions of Amon, Rockliff and Powell-Pepper will put the heat on Wines, who had just 12 touches against the 'Dogs in his second game back.

I think Wines is over rated but he isn't a 'terrible AFL footballer'. His form prior to his wrist injury wasn't that bad as he was close to our best in that win against West Coast when he had 35 possessions he followed that up with a couple of reasonable games against North and Collingwood. Wines has to show more leadership but I do not think we are that good that we can drop him for a crunch game.

If we had a more enlightened hand on the tiller that person might try Ollie Wines in a role outside of the mid field, maybe in defence or as a tagger or even as a forward but that is not going to happen.

I think we have to play our best list “on paper”. We havent had a chance all year to try it. I know some players have been slightly out of form, but it’s all or nothing now.

IN: Ryder, Hoff, SPP, Rocky, Amon and Howard.

OUT: Farrell, Drew, Ladhams, Motlop, Bonner and Butters.

When was the last time an AFL club dropped its captain? Has it ever happened?

No suspensions out of the weekends game.
We were so soft it's no surprise. Was chalk and cheese from the week before. We were the hunters against Geelong. That needed to be the norm.

There was such a contrast in our physicality between the last 2 games, you don't like seeing players get suspended but we had to pay a price to get a good win against the Cats. But to then roll over and play the most timid game of our season in conditions that were perfect for a physical scrap was mind blowing.
