I remember when Hannath carried the ruck division wonderfully for a large stint during Freo's grand final year. He even took a match saving contested mark against Richmond.

Yeah this. Pav still has versatility (sends himself into the middle), can kick goals, and is a genuine target. He also leads as a link up one out at times. Pulling in Hannath on the grounds that he can provide a marking target eliminates the other 90% of the game when he's not having a ball kicked on his head. I'd rather Crozier in with Clarke up forward a little more, mayne as the main target, and generally being mobile. It's not like essendon have a heap of good small defenders - it's one of their weaknesses
Sorry for the intrusion but this couldn't be further from the truth in regards to Essendon. Baguley, Dempsey, Gleeson and Hibberd are all capable small defenders at the very least. Our entire defence is probably our biggest strength. It's the other end of the ground that Essendon have a problem with, our forward line is non-functional. How often have you watched Essendon in 2014/15?

I remember Clancee Pearce at some points getting near 40 possessions in the WAFL. Ryan Crowley getting dropped and getting 35 and 4 goals. Don't be fooled by 20-25 possessions or <20 and a couple goals.

How come upcoming game analysis threads aren't created early in the week any more?

They are on my banned list, which I am sure they are suffering from. This week will make an exception.

I'll never forget riding home on the train after giving them a 97 point drubbing in Willsy's 100th game and my Bomber supporting mate took his scarf off and hid it under his jacket, weak prick :D

Also grabbing the said scarf and winding it around the toilet roll holder about 5 minutes after this.

Wow a Willsy reference, that takes you back doesn't it??

Loved Willsy as a kid :D

Im with Jedi..Ballas can use a run in the twos. Hasn't played well yet this year and been out for a few weeks while others have been excelling at Peel. I understand hes leadership group..what better way to show leadership than to go through the system.

Kicked 2 in a low scoring affair v Port
Big pressure against Geelong, 6 tackles and kicked a goal.
Struggled on Sunday, but definitely no reason to drop. 2 decent games 1 poor doesn't mean dropping.

Okay, whatever floats your boat. I wasn't asking you.

Hi, had to admit, didn't watch much of bombers games this season.

if you don't mind, could you give some insights on essendon's form at the moment? Seems to do well against strong teams (like Hawthorne) then drop down to strangely low levels against likes of St Kilda. Not too sure which essendon will turn up on Saturday tbh.

It's really quite simple, our defence has been outstanding for 2 years, and our forward line the opposite. That allows us to keep good sides down but allow weaker sides to have a chance. I struggle to see how we're going to score more than 60 against you guys, but we'll keep you to less than 80 at the same time.

As long as the conditions are dry, I think people are not giving big Jack Hannath enough credit for what he can bring as that extra tall target in pavs absence. He has been working on his mobility and has improved since his first year a lot. Still true that normally he should be getting a game when 211 is rested and Clarke plays 1st ruck instead. Just need to make sure that you have separation with your tall forwards and crumbers like Neale (in place of Walters) and Ballas there for the spills.

He is very good in front of the sticks too Hannath. While I would be a bit surprised if Hannath plays and more likely Gu and Crozier/Sherro come in for Walters and Pav, I would not see it as very bad thing - it at least maintains our structure and doesn't put too much pressure on young Taberner.

Watched the game again last night, poor MDB was willing but not effective. If Walters and Pav do not get up he will likely be safe but needs to do better.

Pav is obviously a very hard player to replace, given his versatility and the key role he plays for our team. A flanker/Midfielder might be a bit easier though.
So if Pavlich was out, my first move would be to send Fyfe forward. We would lose NOTHING in the air, as Fyfe is as good as anybody from our side when it comes to contested marking and is the most likely player we have to clunk a big pack mark, so he might be able to get under a few long balls. Fyfe could genuinely replace Pavlich's role without a problem and I'd back our midfield to win it without him. However, he should have the same power pav does, and be able to throw himself in the centre clearance at any time when we need it.

Barlow has been played forward a lot more this year and I believe we could send him back into the midfield and replace him with a flanker type. To me duffy deserves a run and has been playing well and would be a good option, however crozier, weller and blakely all deserve a call up as well.

Anyway, my point is, i dont think our attack would look any weaker, in any regards if we had fyfe replace Pav.
A combination of Pav, Tabs and Clarke is good, but to me Fyfe. Tabs and Clarke has greater flexibility and balance.

GIVE ESSENDON THE OLD HEAVE-HO THIS WEEK! THEY ONLY JUST BEAT ST.KILDA BECAUSE THE SAINTS MISSED EASY GOALS.
