Looks like the game has finished and he's willingly high fiving supporters.

Completely different situation to reaching out over the fence to touch a player whilst there is a game going on.
So, what if that fan were not a man with tattoos on his face? What if it was an attractive woman in her 20s.

Would the penalty be the same?

Yes if course it should be the same penalty.

Just like if a female runs onto the field, they cop the same fine.

The guy who copped a 12 month ban last year for reaching out and touching Pickett didn't have face tattoos.

Should be, but wouldn’t be.

Wouldn’t have been looked at.

I've told you a couple of times now. The ban should be 12 months. And that applies to everyone regardless of their sex, tattoos, occupation, team they barrack for or attractiveness.
But do you think that would have happened?
In reality.

What if a fan reaches over the fence and pats a player on the back?
If you're not allowed to touch the player whilst the game is on, then you're not allowed to touch the player whilst the game is on. I don't know how much simpler it could be.

This is obviously why the AFL needs big suspensions & hefty fines, because some supporters can't seem to comprehend simple rules.

One of the best characteristics of our game is that it’s generally safe - for fans to be, to take our kids, for players on the field to be protected from fans. We don’t have high fences, we don’t let off flares, we can’t invade the pitch.

The guy who has been suspended did not mean any harm to the player (although the fact that we were smashing WC may have helped his mood).

But the rule is there for the bigger picture. We can’t have physical interaction between players and fans during a game.

After a game, when the successful team goes to the fence and high fives fans is different - many players seek this out and love it. It’s also in their control.

When the WC player found himself on the fence during play - and had a Pies fan take the ball from him and ruffle his hair - was not something he sought. He should not have had to deal with that. It just shouldn’t happen.

Yes Reid is going to be top shelf, but will be different to Daicos. Won't get it as much probably, but have a different type of impact.
What Reid needs still is (1) build his tank (2) learn when & how to best use his many weapons and (3) a better midfield around him (although to a large extent he'll drag them along with him). But that will all come.

Anyhow, Bucks was my favourite player as a youngster so I've always had a soft spot for the Pies, and barracked hard for them in every GF, apart from the obvious one. So good luck for the rest of the year, with the exciting brand of footy, big crowds/noise, and humility of leaders Macrae & Moore it is an easy team to get behind.

Reid is more like Cripps from Carlton where Nick is like Pendles

its their workplace. How would you like some random unit coming into your classroom to give you a pat on the back?
Ha ha. No one gives teachers pats on the back!
