Rudest/Nicest player you've met?

Nicest, Simon Madden easily. He was always available to supporters & especially great with the kids.

Worst Van Der Haar. I love the guy as a player & was friends with him, but he was arrogant & a user, got supporters to pay for his drinks, including his take aways. He was rude to the kids, told my son to piss off when he asked for his autograph one day & when I went to chastise him for it, all he said was, if he had have known it was my son he wouldn't have said it. I told him no matter who's child it was, he shouldn't have abused them & just given his autograph.

Best
Paul Barnard (best by a mile)
Jason Johnson (absolutely sensational bloke)
Damien Peverill
Steve Alessio
Mark Johnson
Brad Green (Melb)
Sean Wellman
Darren Bewick
Shane McInerney (ump)
Chris Heffernan
Dustin Fletcher
John Barnes - I was on Barnesy's footy quiz in year 9, won the whole thing and Barnes made my day with his personality.
Dean Wallis
Michael Long
Damien Hardwick
Scott Lucas
Cory McGrath

Worst
Mark McVeigh
Adam Ramanauskas
Blake Caracella
Gary Moorcroft

I'm glad this twit doesn't post here anymore & hope he now barracks for another team, how anyone could say Rama is one of the worst, has serious mental problems.

Also have never had a problem with the others on his worst list.

Peter Moore told me to F off when I was 13 and at training.

I also got to meet Stan Magro, Tom Hafey and most of the other players in that era. In those days we were allowed into the rooms before and after training. All of them were pretty nice.

Met Bucks not so long ago and he was pretty good too.

When I was 6 I ran out with the Bombers when the played West Coast in Darwin during a pre-season match in their premiership year in 2000. I got to meet my then "favourite player" which was great. In a team with many star players, the guy I chose to meet was a young Mark McVeigh who at that stage had only played a handful of games. I have no idea why I picked him but I did. He seemed pretty good. Was fairly quiet but I think he was probably more surprised that I picked him as my favourite player.

I also met James Clement when Collingwood had a training session up here. After training I had a kick with him and he said "You have the best skills I have ever seen from a kid your age (9)". He seemed like a good bloke.

Former Richmond draftee Kyle Archibald seemed pretty good when he played footy up here.

I haven't met someone who I found really arrogent yet but Rhyce Shaw didn't seem to talk much.

Fraser Gherig told me to F off when i suggested he give his shorts back to the auskick kid he stole them off. Can understand why but dont thing that language was appropriate in front of my 7 cousins (all under 10) who were left in shock when he said that.

Nice: Wirrpanda, absolute champion. Used to live on my street and would always wave at me and say hi. Even recognised me at Eagles training sessions and would stop for a chat.

Cousins. My only experience with the guy was a great one. Stopped for 20-30 minutes to play kick to kick with my mate outside Neale Fongs house (old neighbour).

Plenty of other Eagles were good to talk to.

Rude ones there is probably only Kerr, who seemed to be a bit arrogant although he had been surrounded by people for the last 20 minutes. Bumped into Pavlich once too, didn't seem to have much time for people. Not exactly rude though.

Nicest - Shannon Byrnes
Rudest - Brad Ottens

Any other player I've met has been good. Special mentions to ex-players Leppa and Ricky Olarenshaw (sp?) who were very nice recently.

Brad Scott was fantastic. Always shook the hand and had a chat. He is a top bloke. Jon Hassell also was great...chatted away and was very friendly.

Nick Holland was a nice guy too.

Billy Brownless is awesome very chatty, and interested
Worst Bloke would be Peter Matera, absolute w**a

yeah Billy is a great bloke too, gave me the time of day at a local drinking establishment even though he would get drunken fools going up to him all the time (cause he's the drunken icon I guess).

nicest- Libba, ****ing top bloke.

Agreed. Libba is a gun. Went to his place for dinner once with this chick I was seeing who didn't like him, basically because he was married to her friend. He was an absolute fantastic bloke. Very honest, funny and down to earth.

For all those who are talking about Carey, he is a genuine bloke too. At North he would go out of his way to see kids who came down to watch training. One day , as part of a kids group I used to run that catered for kids from disadvantaged backgrounds, he wasn't on the track, but was in the gym. Of course, all the kids wanted to see him, but as time wore on, it became apparent he wasn't going to be around. One of the trainers heard the kids talking, went down into the gym, and out came Carey. He sat with them for fifteen minutes, organized autographed photos, not just of him, but of dozens of teammates and even allowed them to come into the gym and watch him work out for a few minutes. Posed for photos - the lot.

He didn't have to do any of that, but he did. I'm sorry, but heartless people don't do that stuff. He may have made some mistakes, but those actions will always see me hold him in high esteem.

Brenton Sanderson was great. Tim McGrath always had time for people and Gary Ablett Senior is very warm. Also, Cameron Ling and Josh Hunt are great blokes too. Billy is a legend :thumbsu:

Leigh Colbert came across as a great person when I met him when I was a little tacker at a lunch. In fact, he talked to me for five minutes and made an effort to say bye when I was on the way out :)

There are so many more. Our game is in great shape when we have so many good people playing the game :thumbsu::)

Not just me. A group of about 10 or so Eagles fans about the age of seven, who obviously idolised him and were nearly in tears when he snobbed them off and kept walking after they had asked for autographs.

Naturally I cut him off, shoved my AFL record under his nose, forced him to sign it and allowed the kids to swamp him. I think I made an enemy! :D

Chris Judd was nice, so was Dean Cox. And I have to agree with dyertribe; Timmy Giniver is a top bloke! Has a nice family, too.

If it was after the whole drug incident, you should know that he has not yet talked to the media (even for after game conferences).

So, thats probably why. If not, then thats very rude and i'd be pretty disappointed. Because I thought of him as an awesome guy when I met him a couple years back.

Kangaroos

Glenn Archer - fantastic
Anthony Stevens - as above
Djaren Whyman - very outgoing/approachable
Shannon Grant - seems nice enough
Joel Perry - good bloke
Daniel Wells - nice guy, bit shy
Brett Allison - bit quiet, not sure but he was alright
Matt Larkin - great
Winston Abraham - shy, good bloke though
Leigh Colbert - terrific
Anthony Rock - literally said hello to him whilst walking past out of surprise - seems okay
Darren Crocker - great bloke
Dean Laidley - have heard mixed stories but was okay when I met him

Other

Bill Brownless - not sure how bright he is but is certainly down to earth
Barry Stoneham - off his face at the time, seemed like a nice guy
Garry Hocking - great
Shaun Smith - bit quiet
Matt and Steve Febey - great blokes
Gavin Brown - testing the memory here, seemed good though
Brendan Fevola - bit vacant upstairs but pleasent enough
Wayne Jackson - very friendly bloke

Without a doubt, the nicest current player would be David Rodan. The guy takes the time to talk to anyone who wants to say hi, he also doesnt just brush fans off, but pretty much talks to people for as long as they want to. He is also the most encouraging person with young kids, taking the time to explain what it takes to be an athlete and encouraging each and every youngster to do their best. He is an absolute star, and his family are also the best!

From other clubs there's one bloke that stood out as the nicest and most approachable for mine...Paul Salmon. Matty Primus is another (smart guy too)...and Max Hudghton...who my missus kept a running joke going with me by referring to as "adorable" and "gorgeous" and "sexy" until i eventually got sick of it. She was quite taken with the bloke...bitch! Nice guy tho.

Standout knobjockeys include Greg Williams and not surprisingly to most Jeffrey "what u see is what u get" Farmer.

Rudest - Luke Brennan, absolute arseh*le, had the nerve to call me a ******* after i wished him luck for the footy screamers!

Nicest - Between Sam Mitchell and Ben Mcglynn, both do not care what is happening, they always leave time for the fans.

All the Brisbane Lions players are great blokes. Not a single ego among them.

Simon Black is not just a great player, but a terrific person as well. Much too modest for a champion.

Justin Sherman is one of the nicest blokes you could meet or know.

Colm Begley is great company to be around.

Joel Patfull is a nice bloke too, though a bit shy.

Jared Brennan is a top bloke.

So is Scott Harding. And Daniel Merrett. And Josh Drummond.
