Not sure taking shots at opposition supporters in this thread expressing concern is really the way to go.
Fully understand that some may have an element of trolling but on the whole I think most people are concerned about players wellbeing.
Seems that the club has handled this whole thing pretty badly and I reckon there might be a job vacancy for a club doctor pretty soon.

Most posts from Port supporters I have read are not driven from the "Sack Ken" narrative. They are furious that a player that dropped like a rag-doll was allowed back on the ground at all.

We all know the seriousness of the issue. There was a clear violation of protocols written in language that anyone can understand. The players were out cold >2 seconds and did not fall with a peotective action. Jones was in the fencing position.

Clear as day both needed to sit on the bench the restbof the game. Saying " Migraine" makes it appear as though the system is being gamed.


Don't get me wrong. I enjoy the banter and hanging shit on Port fans over frivolous shit..... However, this is not frivolous and I don't want to hang shit on the club.

The Dr had a grevious lapse in judgment.
There is also nothing stopping Ken from over-riding and saying "I saw the replay and you need to sit out".

We all want healthy players for a healthy rivalry.... then we can hang shit on each other some other time.

Sorry to intrude, but imo the argument that the doctor made a mistake is pretty poor, considering similar incidents have happened before.
Above all, I hope they apologise to Allir… to compromise his health in such a reckless and blatant way is a real breaker of trust. I would be fuming if that was my son.

absolutely. in years gone by it was just seen as "being tough" heading back out there.

but it's 2023, we know the medical information regarding traumatic brain injury and concussion. if you fight in the UFC and get knocked out you get a mandatory medical suspension in MONTHS. the week off the AFL has instituted is a good step. this ****ing knucklehead doctor sending a guy back out in SEVEN MINUTES in despicable.

Did anyone notice on the coverage of the incident at how happy the racist Walker was in the background? He was smiling and geeing up Thilthorpe at how great it was that both their direct opponents would be going off with concussion.

The TV footage focused in on it and the commentators also pointed it out. One of the most appalling reactions I've seen on a footy field to players being seriously injured.

Mark Fisher is a very accomplished doctor, but his single error here is going to have serious ramifications. I suspect his future at the club is going to be short lived.

As a parent, if your son was entering the AFL via the draft system, I personally would be doing everything to ensure they don't go to Port. This single act has destroyed all trust any parent can have that their son's health and well being will be taken care of by the health professionals within the club if the people responsible remain within the Club.

This is simply something the Club cannot gloss over if it wants to ensure it remains on a competitive playing field with the rest of the competition. Otherwise, if a player's health is not front and centre of priorities for the Club, no player will want to be in such an environment.

If they failed a test, there'd be no reason for the AFL to intervene.

I know it's not. This error is the most egregious of all though and is not one that can be rectified short of resignation imo.

Put it this way, if someone reported the doc to AHPRA they doc would have a case to answer regarding their professional conduct.

i was not in the rooms to diagnose both players. the doctor made an assessment, at that time based on a diagnosis as it would be for anyone seeking a doctor.

if you are a trained medical professional then please make a comment.

as a non medical professional: i was not happy at the time, that aliir was allowed back on the field & still not. he has been let down in my opinion.

i was under the impression, that the medical staff had to look at television footage as part of their assessment. which to me would should have made it impossible for aliir to make it back onto the field.

the coach does not have the prevailing influence over the doctor.

the afl, the club & the doctor need to sort out the process as it happened.
