they actually earn more money with tight supply. its against their interests financially to open the tap

also the saudis are facing the issues of falling oil reserves, and falls in govt incomes (hence they have actually started bringing in some taxes)

in the past they juiced supply and lost $$$ to appease their military supplier in the USA. this need is a lot less now (because 9/11 and Yemen has shown the Saudis that they can do whatever the fu** they want, and the USA wont do sh*t)
Let's watch what happens then

I'm still betting on Cash

Thats my point, it's a similar issue to the power suppliers here and in the USA.

The fall in price per unit of measure is greater than the volume increase.

You make more money selling less

I fully understood you earlier, I just think you are completely and utterly wrong

Its happened previously. If you increase supply by 10% but the price falls 40%, how do you think the Saudis make more money?

Was it the "I think you are completely and utterly wrong" bit that confused you Ned?

I'm allowed to hold that opinion aren't I? Its not like what ever you say I must agree with it, is it?

Morrison is going on the attack. He's painting himself as a wartime leader in a time of crisis:

Remember, he fell in popularity in the bushfires but then rose at the start of Covid. It was only in 2021 that the Libs polling numbers fell as Covid dragged on. Morrison knows that Tampa and then 9/11 saved Howard. Now the pandemic, and all the negative connotations he gained from that, has subsided he is going to use national security to paint himself as a "Decisive leader", standing up to Putin and the media will fall for it.

I think there will be an inevitable turnaround in the Liberal's polling from now on.

I honestly think that Morrison's stock rose at the start of Covid because he threw so much free money around that his popularity rating could only go one way. People's jobs were largely protected so that is a tick.

However, Putin going all Hitler on the Ukraine won't save our (NSW's) PM. Geopolitically we are a mere wart on Putin's arse. There is very little political currency Morrison can gain from this. To be a "wartime leader" we actually have to be at war. At best we are an angry observer who will be inconvenienced by rising fuel prices but that is about it.

It will just fizz out

With NATO and the USA not committing ground forces the front door was opened for Russia

In short the West don't give a fork about the Ukraine, they are just using it to get to Putin

Sorry, I dont get this.

How is anyone using this to get at Putin?

Ukraine is not in NATO. So are 'the West' supposed to start a wider war with a nuclear power. A power run by a criminal nationalistic gang of Oligarchs?

The only real approach we have is to economically isolate the Putin regime.

Of course Scumo can do an Abbott & threaten to shirtfront Putin.

Isolation and then launch waves of cyberattacks to cripple them is the only real way you would think.

I heard on the grapevine that Morrison and Dutton have come up with a cunning plan to send send over Ben Roberts-Smith "on the quiet"
to "take out" Putin. If it comes off they will crow about it. If it doesn't they'll deny all knowledge. :)

BRS specialises in eliminating unarmed innocents.

Does Putin have a plastic leg that BRS can neck some Smirnoff out of after the deed is done?

of course you are, but you are ignoring history and economic reality on this one

Unfortunately the Defamation Trial of the Century must take precedence. After that's over, Ben flys out.
Hope he's not too late......

So what happens if we end up with Ukrainian refugees arriving in boats?
They wont as they are looking for safety not googling country with soft borders rules and great welfare system. If they did turn up, at least they wont have thrown away the identity papers they used for their flights to Indonesia and wont threaten their rescuers like the scum did when the Tampa crew tried to do the legally correct thing and sail for Indonesia.

It's more that the war will erase people's memories of the pandemic pretty quick. The negativity of the bushfires was erased very soon after Covid started, and Morrison rode the popularity in a "time of crisis". Then as time dragged on people realised he was all piss and wind. Now he'll ride a popularity wave due to "standing up to the bully Putin", but it will only last a few months or so while the crisis goes on. Problem for the ALP is he will be calling the election in the next few months.

If the polls due within the next few weeks show a move to the Libs expect a snap election to be called ASAP.
Will be funny when real poll results show everyone was lying to pollsters to provoke an earlier election call

How about condemn the Putin apologists in his own government?:

Or condemn the member for Hughes who ensures the government keeps it's majority and was responsible for this recently:

This is exactly what Albo should be doing now, but of course the Libs will attack back saying Albo is trying to "undermine national leadership in a time of crisis" even though that's what they are doing
Albo should lean into it and claim there is no national leadership I see no ****ing leader I see waste and defence spending for no outcomes. I see a lying gibbon in the pm chair

No its Bruce's proof of the red peril of laybah
The question is though are there many out there who think like Bruce who might have been considering a vote switch to labor who would be scared off by this language.

"This is the salmon that actually jumps on the hook for you."
Heard him on radio justifying the Russian “zeitgeist “ - “they are scared of the west (Europe) they have been invaded by Europe many times (cites examples back to 1600s) so thinks Russians will embrace measures to keep homeland safe”

Our reserves are in California from memory, more Angus Taylor sh*t f***ery.
I thought those were reserved purchased when oil hit $0 a barrel so had to stash somewhere while local construction was done. So I wouldn’t class as ****ery

I endorse this plan.

Which is rot. Its not 1600. Its not even 1941.

Russia is a nuclear power. WHO TF is going to invade them?

Putin is creating a problem that doesn't exist.

He just wants to create the old USSR world again. Its stupid. The world has changed since the USSR collapsed 30 flipping years ago.

Putin longs for the USSR power days. Not happy stealing $billions from the poor Russian people, he wants to be some kind of swaggering Tsar.

People die because of his megalomania.

Putin's US cheer squad in █████ & Pompeo are a disgrace. Barracking for a dictator over a Democracy is disgusting.
