DOes anyone know if the bushfire victims have received the money that was donated to them? If not, where is that money? In whose pockets?
No, they were just promises, they will never be met.
Just like with these stimulus packages, the people that require them the least will most likely be the first and only to receive them as scummo and froddo pray that this somehow all blows over.

This is a fascinating article from https://theintercept.com/2020/03/27/coronavirus-stimulus-package-spending/

This is particularly interesting;

It’s a fascinating progressive moment because what it’s shown is that all of these issues have never been about ‘how are you going to pay for it?’ It’s never been about whether we have the capacity to do these things or if the logistics have worked out.

All of these excuses that we have been given as to why we cannot treat people humanely have suddenly gone up in smoke and what has been revealed is that all of these issues were really about a lack of political will and who you deemed worthy to be in an emergency or not.

No idea what The Intercept is or how credible they are but it is a very interesting article.
Very much the theme that the excellent Richard Denniss pursues. As he puts it, we are one of the richest nations in the world, in the history of the world. We can never afford everything, but we can afford anything.

so the business has an employee making 3k a fortnight and has to stump up the other 50% themselves to get the payment?

interesting

If the employee is already on $3k per fornight, now the business only have to pay half of it, the government is going to pay the rest.

Yeah but they don’t have to do they?

I've just had a chat with my MIL and FIL, they're both about to hit retirement age and work casual in a caravan park, they were both going to be paid out today but their bosses have been told by their accountant not to.

Their boss is under the impression and it seems so were my in-laws that they would just keep working their normal hours and they would still get paid their normal wage and the boss would pocket the rest. I told them no, they both get the $1,500 pf, they're stoked, a nice little boost pre-retirement when they will hit the road in their van and spend the money all over the place in small towns.

Has anyone thought about the struggling and desperate who have been working for cash for $10 an hour and aren't on any books? I'm sure they'll be missing out and without thinking about it will be be dobbing their unscrupulous bosses in and then inadvertently dobbing themselves in for working for cash while still claiming Newstart / Parenting Payments / DSP and the like.

A new class of the haves and have nots.

Who doesn't have to do what?

The employer doesn’t have to top up the difference

if you clear 2000 a week they don’t have to fork over the rest beyond the 1500 if they don’t wish too

nor do they have to pay super or leave etc iirc

So you're saying that if someone is still working and has been getting paid $3,000 per fortnight for the last x amount of years they're now going to have to take a 50% pay cut?

Is that what you're really saying?

The company can tand them down and pay them $1500 per fortnight to sit at home but still be part of the company or pay the extra to keep them at work normally

That was my understanding as well. Providing the company qualifies of course.

But hopefully the Government can come up with the legislation in the next week so everyone has a clearer understanding of what they are entitled to.

I'm also expecting some issues between people getting JobSeeker and JobKeeper payments so no doubt there's going to be people paying back debts.

I don't think that's right.

It's a wage subsidy. If you're already on $1500 the employee won't get extra for turning up for work.

Correct, but the business won't be paying it, the government will be via the employer.

If you're still working and you earn less than $1,500 per fortnight then you've just got a pay rise. The government will pay all of it, provided the business has registered for the payments and they have lost at least 30% of their business since this business started.

If you're still working and you earn more than $1,500 per fortnight then the government will pay the first $1,500 and then the business has to pay whatever the rest is.

If you were stood down because of the downturn due to the virus then you will be paid $1,500 per fortnight.

If you had already been sacked / let go / made redundant after 01 March, you can negotiate with your former employer to put you back on their books again and you will be paid the $1,500.

Well we’re doomed, I could’ve watch it all, but what I saw was like a Kenneth Copeland sermon.

We think he is crazy but his base thinks he's godly
