Welcome to Subiaco Oval for what is likely to be the least watched game so far this tournament. Yes, it's true that neither team is in contention. Yes it's true that neither team has really set this competition on fire so far (with the exception of threats of arson after each received a penalty point. However, there is something deeper and more meaningful than tatty silverware: pride. Both of these states have it in spades but both have also let themselves and their supporters down so far this carnival. WA are winless and have been thumped mercilessly in their attempts to turn the tide. SA have been respectable but unable to capitalise on good performances against stronger teams. We'll be looking for a lot more fight from boths sides than their last efforts. Let's take a look at the matchups on the ground:
In a surprising move which really is a condemnation of their KPF stocks, WA have brought newcomer Krazy Kris straight in to full forward in an attempt to fix their malfunctioning forwardline. At the other end of the ground, The Doctor11 will be looking at stealing a run on his opponents in the race for the highest goalkicking award (The Medal Formally Known As Lioness) but he will have to overcome his perchant for behinds (so to speak) if he is to lead his team to victory while taking home the award. The Falcon Strike will be making his Key Position debut on the wayward yet prolific Full Forward, while former WA full forward boncer is trying his hand at ruck rover opposite the slightly disappointing WAG. They will be looking to shark the taps of what promises to be an epic ruck duel between two of the best ruckman in this competition: larrikin and Dagless. On the wing captain Ljp, one of the few who can hold his head high in this horrendous WA campaign, will take on youngster Christoh while once again the SA bots are rotated with Kramer, Jerry and George making their debuts.

There's the siren and it's WA by a slender 7 point lead here at Subiaco. It wasn't the ckeanest, most free-running quarter of the tournament but there were glimpses from boths sides showing what they're capable of. The ball spent the majority of time in one forward fifty or the other, but neither team seemed confident enough to attempt a shot on goal and the defence of both sides was impressive. WA will be heartened but not carried away by their lead. They have had games in their grasp before and thrown it away. SA will be worried, however. Their wins have all come from commanding positions and they will do well to avoid panicking and continue taking it up to WA.

There's the siren and it's WA by a slender 7 point lead here at Subiaco. It wasn't the ckeanest, most free-running quarter of the tournament but there were glimpses from boths sides showing what they're capable of. The ball spent the majority of time in one forward fifty or the other, but neither team seemed confident enough to attempt a shot on goal and the defence of both sides was impressive. WA will be heartened but not carried away by their lead. They have had games in their grasp before and thrown it away. SA will be worried, however. Their wins have all come from commanding positions and they will do well to avoid panicking and continue taking it up to WA.

It's hard to argue that they didn't have the better of WA in that term but to say they missed their opportunities is a slight understatement. WA just could not get the ball out of their back half and struggled to maintain possession in the face of a well organised press by SA, yet they kept the pressure on when they didn't have the ball and can take some of the credit for keeping the lead, as small as it is.

Oh! I thought that shotr was taken after the siren but the Umpires are allowing it. That buzzerbeater by Christoh means WA managed just 2.1 to 4.6 in that quarter and neither team has entirely impressed. SA's ability to get to the point of shooting for goal is excellent, their finishing woeful. WA just can't seem to get it into their half of the ground at all. They're doing a heap of work off the ball but just hand it right back as soon as they get it. I can't imagine this game will rise to any great heights in this final quarter, given the three that have preceeded it, but both teams will want to have a good solid hit out since their next won't be until pre-season begins.

Oh! I thought that shotr was taken after the siren but the Umpires are allowing it. That buzzerbeater by Christoh means WA managed just 2.1 to 4.6 in that quarter and neither team has entirely impressed. SA's ability to get to the point of shooting for goal is excellent, their finishing woeful. WA just can't seem to get it into their half of the ground at all. They're doing a heap of work off the ball but just hand it right back as soon as they get it. I can't imagine this game will rise to any great heights in this final quarter, given the three that have preceeded it, but both teams will want to have a good solid hit out since their next won't be until pre-season begins.

That game really came alive in the last term after 3 quarters of mediocrity. It was a hard fought game but it really needn't have been so close given the wastefulness of South Australia in front of goals. Their atrocious kicking for goal nearly came back to haunt them in the dying stages of the match but then the curse afflicted WA and they were unable to seize their first victory. That game really came alive in the last term after 3 quarters of mediocrity. It was a hard fought game but it really needn't have been so close given the wastefulness of South Australia in front of goals. Their atrocious kicking for goal nearly came back to haunt them in the dying stages of the match but then the curse afflicted WA and they were unable to seize their first victory. AFTER-MATCH SUMMARY :
Both HawkPatrol and Ljp were stunning for WA but few others contributed when they were really needed. For SA Simba and Dagless were excellent while Andonis and Loopy_cam were the main culprits infront of goals and captain The Doctor11 had just 3 touches for one goal.
Around the grounds thanks to SKM Couriers: What's a Courie? At the QEO NSW&ACT are just about to wrap that one up, with a 51 point lead late in the last quarter. It looks like it will all come down to the game tonight between Metro and The Allies.

First quarter and a half was great but the second quarter and a half was poor. We were lucky to be leading at half time anyway, is SA had have kicked straight the game would have been just about over by then. Still, we fought on and almost stole the game late in the last term but it just wasn't to be.
HP was impressive again with hougie making the most of his limited chances, Glinn was lively early, Cheetah played well and I had a another good display.
All in all the carnival was very disappointing, to finish with no wins from five games just isn't good enough and we've certainly let our standards slip since the glory days of a few years ago where we were unstoppable. Hopefully we can regroup next carnival but I would say there will be a few new faces in the team by then.
