Tigers and Crows to strike a deal on pick swaps late first round

Can you really see them taking Kolar at 17, I can’t
There are a few ways to look at it;
At 17, maybe not - but outside of the top fwd prospects I see him as the next best fwd with the highest ceiling and potential, and is it something (an area) of fulfilment that Richmond need to invest in , yes.

Does the rumour that the Tigers are looking to package and change picks in order to facilitate such a pick come to fruition because they realise clubs may want other kids that have slid to that range before Kolar is in their consideration, quite possibly.

What are Richmonds needs: their list is pretty stacked of mids, wingers, half fwds, half backs, small fwds. Their backline will need an investment as does their fwd line. Their is no heir apparent to the almost ready to retire Riewoldt yet, Callum Coleman Jones is a fwd ruck prospect, chol is a depth fwd/ruck, lynch is the tall ff, Balta can be a swing man but is settling down back.
So, are they are a team that can afford an early pick on an investment, short answer, yes.

If I did a phantom draft with prospective pick swaps and/including 2021 pick exchanges then he probably would not be on here at 17, but I do very much believe the Tigers will look at a best value/high ceiling fwd first if possible then quite possibly a def with elite athletic traits, then if a Rioli bid comes in match it, but hold out in the hope he gets to the rookie draft.

Not every year goes right, not very draft haul is exactly what teams want, but I believe if any club is in a position to use their early pick for value in exchanges or pick for the future in a position of needed investment then it is Richmond.

Also, if there is a year to find a golden nugget amongst the field this is the year for it. Top 10 seem solid after that there are maybe another 10 that look promising but then it is, although everyone has put in a lot of work and know the prospects, a turkey shoot for talent and future worth.

Good effort Smythe.

However not sure about Freo's last pick of Lake - a mid.

With Freo's shortage or tall forwards I would be looking at Callow, Rosman and Allison who are still available.

Fair point, I just couldn’t leave Lake on the board any longer, I’m also not as bullish as some on Callow, last year I thought so, but as the year went on, not so much, Allison would be a good one.

For those out there who live in WA and have seen Isiah Winder live. What are his greatest strengths?
Ground level work, athleticism, bursts away from packs, use of the ball by hand, link up play, ferocity at the ball or man with the ball, and reading of play, X factor and leap. He is, in my eyes one of the best smalls this year with huge upside In the right environment at a professional level.

Can’t see the Pies going for a KPD in Hunter and leaving Baldwin going undrafted if he’s on the board at 60. That’s the biggest risk/reward no brainer in draft history, especially for a club desperate for a key forward.

Would love Luke Pedlar at the Saints, talented player, but doubt he will be available as late as this Mock Draft suggests

I think if the top 5 picks go as predicted, Perkins and Cox for the Bombers first 2 picks are no brainers only difference might be Reid if they prefer him (although I see him and Brand NGA) as playing the same role whereas Cox more likely CHB going forward. The final selection could go anyway.
Any reason you like Henry for us?? I worry about to many of the medium forward types ie: Langford, Laverde and would rather another pure mid or another tall.
My preference would be to trade down for a Carroll, O'Driscoll Poulter type.
Thoughts??

Agreed, he may not be and rumours suggest he won’t be. I hear Geelong has interest as well as Adelaide with one of their first 2 picks of second round.

Dual capability fwd/def, excellent mark, big upside. All 3 are big chances at that last pick.

No Baldwin, do you think, he will be rookie'd instead?
Someone may take a risk on him but i think most would like to see how his body holds up against men, whether its in the reserves or seniors next year and for him to get some footy under his belt. He probably will get rookied, if not taken in the national draft, but i can see the point where most clubs may wait to see how he fares first then try to nab him in one of the mini drafts next year.

Thanks for a great year everyone, i was happy with my final first round phantom and with 46 points beat the likes of:
Herald Sun: 46 points
eDPS: 38 points
Draft Central: 37 points
Matt Balmer: 37 points
Knighta: 36 points
Cal Twomey: 36 points
Daniel Cherny: 35 points
It's not about that, but a little bragging rights is a good to put into the bank :smirk:
It was a tough year and phantom to call and everyone did a great job. Looking forward to next year.
My 2021 top 20 kids will be posted in the coming days, there are a few already out on other threads so check them out.
