Judging by Hickey's look I suspect the interview would be like

"Camera scary, microphone taste nice"
A bit hard on the lad Runs, his Swans interview shows a very articulate bloke who joined us because he has a new baby and wanted to be closer to family. His wife might be a NSW or Qld lass.

I was more going by his look. He is probably perfectly intelligent but he looks a bit like a caveman.

He looks more like Bob Ross then a caveman

Although imagining Tom Hickey in a loin cloth is not an unpleasant exercise.

Just reading Hickeys back ground, never realised he only took up the game at 17 and he hasn't had the easiest of rides. Behind some very good ruckmen and when he's gotten the chance he's copped an injury. Here's hoping he can keep his good form up now he's the number one man and his luck turns with injuries.
As an aside, what a devoted and patient girl his wife is - four states in ten years, woowser that would be hard!

God help us if, when he's back commentating, he gets a Swans game.
eg
"A goal to Gulden. And that's another to the academy. Academy 3 goals so far"
"Gee these Swans academy players are good, shame other clubs didn't have the chance to draft them"
"Swans academy players looking good, mind you they'd want to be considering the amount of money the AFL pours into them"
The AFL pours, very little into the Northern Academies yet totally funds the Next Generation Academies. Of the total funding less than 10% comes from the AFL. QBE, Swans, Foundation, VW, Real Estate. Com are the major donors. When Eddie cracked the shits the total investment from the AFL Development Fund was a whopping $250,000 out of $3.5 mil.

This have not increased in % to any great degree. Yet the Next Generation Academies are now totally funded by the AFL. The non VFL teams found the fact that the Next Generation Academy system greatly favoured ex VFL teams and was totally funded by the AFL insulting. The AFL acted by changing the rules.

But to do the same with the Northern Academies to the same rules as the Next Generation Academies would end up in court. Why? Because this would definitely be seen as asset stripping. Because the Northern Academies pay so much to develop these players and the AFL is only a minor shareholder in the process, in the case of Gold Coast major, the three other Academies would have ample reason to take this to the Federal Court.

The AFL is very aware of this. They know the example if the AFL's total funding of Next Gen Academies where the clubs in Victoria, WA & SA were able to get first bid on a player even though they did not pay to develop that player would be bought up in court.

They also know that to continue to develop and grow the game in the North strong Academies who send most of their players to the local leagues will eventually grow much stronger local leagues, greater participation and eventually an excess of talent that will be shared by the other state's teams.

The AFL has no interest in improving local leagues.

It also cannot fathom any long-term plan longer than 12 months.

Correct and that's even in Victoria

If there was a hypothetical organisation whose role was to look after Aussie Rules (The rules, grass roots etc).

Who would you want to be on the board of this organisation?

24MAR21: Pridham talks Coaching challenges/The Age

Just watching the 1987 Swans Pies game currently featured on “Dermie Delivers” on Fox 504.

Capper’s shorts are truly obscene.

Don’t know where to look.
I know right? They're like two sizes smaller than everyone ellse.

25MAR21: Buddy 1000 goals/Fox Footy
25MAR21: Gill McLachlan/SMH
AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan is receptive to a request for the Swans and Giants for an additional “housing allowance” for coaching staff as part of the soft cap on football department spending, but says he can see why Victorian clubs would oppose it.

Eddie is probably my least favourite bloke on the planet.
Apart from Trump and the other wannabe dictators ....
