On AFL 360 tonight they came up with the idea of Goldsack to move up to the HFF and play on Sam Fisher and try and shut him down and make him unaccountable.. Reckon thats not a bad move cos I dont think Macaff has the size to match up on Fisher, but Fisher is pretty soft when i comes to 1 on 1 contests.. thoughts?

Didn't we do that in RD 19?

Gilbert's taller than Fisher and Macaffer smashed him last time around. The other thing is I don't think Goldsack commands any respect as a forward, it'd be a purely shut down role if he was to do it, which I don't like. Leaves us playing 5 actual forwards which doesn't really work in a team that relies on 22 role players beating their direct opponent. It's why we've never bothered with a genuine midfield tagger, we trust in our game plan, structure and players to combat our opposition's head to head.
Same can't be said of Macaffer, if Gilbert/Fisher don't pay him respect the other way, he'll kick/create goals. So while he is defensive, he is essentially still a forward option for us.

Fisher does worry me slightly though, that 41 possession game in last years Qualifier still haunts me. He wouldn't be a bad tip for the Norm Smith if you were willing, he is paying about $80. Malthouse has let him run rampant a few times in the past, even in the round 16 game he racked up the touches, hard not to get the impression that Malty doesn't rate him all that highly.
He is a cheap kick scab, but if he is let to run completely free he has potential to break our zone with his rebound kicking.

Kinda like Heath, Harry O, Maxwell?
Hopefully like we've done all year we put on that forward pressure on our opponents defenders, I don't even really know whos St.kildas forward apart from Riewoldt, Kosi, Milne and Schneider is.. lol. But I don't think those players are the ones who like to chase down their opponents..

Farren Ray is the other player who would play either HFF or HBF, not much of a worry tho.

What about Goddard? who will take him if he's in the backline? and when he's in the forward line.

Most important thing we need to focus on is who is going to shutdown Riewoldt. I think Reid will start on him and Maxwell will come to help him 2 on 1

I remember when we did Pressure Fisher he just Kicked it out of Bounds on the Full

I remember that and just loved it.

Fisher got 41 touches becuase he played on Rocca who was very slow and going underdone in that game. Our forward line is fit and ready this time around and wont allow him to get the ball that much.

Your Prefered Result?

What would you want:

Massive Win or Loss

or

Close Win or Loss

I rather a massive Win or Loss as I could not Handle a Close Game.

You?

I want a close win. It will kill me during the game, but it will be oh so rewarding if we win.

Imaging winning a grand final how we did against Adelaide last year in the semi?

No concern for those of us likely to stroke or cardiac arrest?

I just want a win and to live long enough to enjoy it.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We don't want many of our great army lying in hospital after the game due to heart or blood pressure problems.

I can see the game being tight early, with StKilda playing a shut down game (but they don't know how to shit down:D) but it will open up in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, before becoming a war in the last quarter if we haven't broken them by then.

I think we will win the game this week in the 2nd quarter, just like in 1990.:thumbsu:

Great Season for the Pies in 2010
