IN: B. Hall
OUTs: L. Ablett

Interesting that Buchanan was left out, although I have a feeling we'll see him play come Saturday Night.

If all three came in my tip would be:

In: Hall, Tiger, Amon
Out: Dempster, Barlow, Ablett

But more likely it will be

In: Hall, Amon
Out: Dempster, Ablett

That is very unfair. Both Dempster and Barlow deserve their places in the team. Especially if they are being replaced by a half fit Hall and Kennelly.

Any room for Scmidt?

Barlow, as much as i like him, and believe he will be tops for us, he had a very ordinary game against the pies, quite a few mistakes that were costly, jus not used to the pace and being under the pump.

In: Hall, Buchanon
Out: Ablett, Barlow

B: Richards Barry Malceski
HB: Mathews CBolton Dempster
C: Fosdike Kirk McVeigh
HF: O'Keefe O'Loughlin Schneider
F: Everitt Hall Davis
R: Jolly Goodes JBolton

Int: Kennelly LRT Bevan Crouch
Emg: Barlow Schmidt Buchanan

I'd love to see Barlow find a spot. But I think even a 90% fit Tiger, an experienced finals campaigner in Amon, and a genuine Target in Hall all have to be picked.

You'd reckon that the question mark over Tiger prob leaves at least one of Barlow and Demspter as a slightly more than even chance to stay in though.

You would have to think that Dempsters experience would win out over Barlow.

On balance I'd agree. Although you have to remember Barlow really has come in for Tiger in a way, especially now that LRT is back. I'm a Dempster fan. So I hope he gets a berth. But I'm not sure that he is as versatile as Barlow has proved to be. Can't remember Demspter ever being put forward as a target.

barlow has shown enough in three games (bounced back from a poor game v pies with a good one sunday) and has a touch of class about him....dempster for experience, and went well sunday too, but the big BIG question mark, which is about to be answered i think, is hall's fitness....on tuesday, it seemed mroe likely that the irishmna would be okay to play but that hall was still a doubt
i'd imagine amon in for ablett is a given, can't see schmidt coming back

just announced it, only one change, hall in, ablett out....no buchanan, which is a surprise, but no kennelly is not such a shock, his injuries require as much healing time as we can give him, let's just hope we can afford to give him that extra week

i dont like this decision to leave Amon out.. I really believe Barlow will be the weakest link, (hope im wrong) but really leaving Amon out, when were already a midfielder short.. you cant replace a few years of finals and 2 grand final appearences, with a 3 game rookie.. can you?

I don't like it either. I'm worried. I might buy a Barlow badge at the game though and cheer (scream my lungs out) for him.

Opening post updated. Hoping Barlow can produce another game like last week. Could be a massive positive or negative for us. Go the Cheese!

I guess that Buchanan's poor record against Collingwood this year counted against him at the selection table. Fair enough too.

In fact I think that this is just about the best balanced team we've picked all year. A ruckman, a tall (who can run), a medium (who can run), and a small (who we hope can run) on the bench. And similar balance across the field.

One thing you can't say is that we haven't been adventurous, going for Barlow's X-factor over the more proven Buchanan. Good move I reckon, although the introduction of Didak (small slippery forward/midfield) for Rhyce Shaw (pacy mid/HBF) for the Pies does complicate things a bit in terms of matchups.

Hall for Ablett sounds about right. Dempster can play both tall and short if he needs to - pretty handy against marking "smalls" like Didak, and Thomas. And I actually thought Crouch was pretty good on the weekend - he goaled a couple of times and spent time in the midfield. So that reduced the need for Amon a touch. But this way we keep Barlow to throw a spanner in the works around the ground a bit. :thumbsu:

I cant understand all this faith in Barlow, he had a shocker at he mcg, vs pies, now there will be nearly 25,000 extra people there, an even bigger game with more pressure than anything he could possably imagine..
Ok lets look at the 3 games he has played
1. Brisbane, we dominated most of the game, he was a first gammer, had little attention, did extreamly well.
2. Collingwood, 63,000 people, the team under the pump all game, he made error after error, this aint Canberra anymore..
3. Hawthorn, well we completely dominated the game...
So how does this record warrant a spot ahead of Buchanon? its a big risk, when we needed a change in the line up during the year Roos sat idle now were on the big stage and hes rolling the dice.. I honestly hope im wrong..
But i do like the kid, for the record..

i know you're not singling out barlow for blame against c'wood, the whole team was dreadful from about 15 mins into the second quarter, and as a kid he can hardly be expected to turn the game himself....once the pies shut down goodes we were struggling....barlow will do his job

I'm still hoping for a late change! Buchanan for Barlow.

Roos knows what he's doing. I reckon the plan is to slip the number 6 onto Cheese so they'll think he's his doppelganger Bolton. Hall will play in the midfield where he'll rest his groin and just use his big fists to break heads in the packs. Micky O will play back-pocket going forward just enough to kick a bag of 6. Goodes will ruck, rove and roam the wings while his seven opponents gasp for air alongside. Jolly and Spida will just stand in the goal square at either end. Buchanan will serve oranges at quarter time. Schneider will be told to aim for the point post and will subsequently kick a bag of 8. Kirk will supa-glue himself to Bucks so tightly the commentators will use the name "Birks" to describe them and both will get credit for any disposals. Crouch will re-discover his run, break the 100m World sprint record (but forget to bounce) and go on to play another 234 consecutive games. Dempster will begin to think he is the new Tadgh so much that he'll holiday in Listowel every Christmas. McVeigh will finally come out from his brother's shadow only to be blinded by the lights and drop a crucial mark in th goal square. Ablett will be (sneakily) replaced by another Ablett (Gary Snr) who will kick 14 goals but refuse to talk to the media afterwards. The Swans will win by 11 goals and Licuria & Rocca will regret they ever left Sydney.

Nice one Roosey :thumbsu:

Pretty sure for the balance of the team that Buchanan will play, as we look one midfielder rotation short.

The out will be either Dempster or Barlow, depending on the match up they want for Didak/Davis.

Neither of Dempster or Barlow deserve to go on last weeks effort but it's not about individual effort but the structure of the team.
