I fully support this.I for one am equally concerned for both players (what kind of psycho would not be?!), but highly suspect CFL will only act in the second case, or at some point later this year

Push, bump, I don't think that specific act is so important, but anytime you see a player propel another player into obvious danger and pull out oneself, that's dangerous play and if injury results, reportable. The Starcevic one was body on body (no hands in the back at all) therefore it's a completely different situation.
We want to stamp out the gutless pushes from behind (and from the side) when players are airborne and therefore UNABLE to control their own momentum or to brace for contact. The Starcevic incident whilst terribly unlucky was actually as some have tried to call the "Ginbey push" a football action. Both players bodied up, one fell as a result of their shared (and intentional) contact and in falling his head came into contact with a player coming back with the flight's knee.
Body on body (within the realms of the rules i.e.: any contact above the shoulders or below the knees must still be penalised) is fair play. Hands in the back is not fair and pushing an unstable player (one who is airborne or at speed) in the back or side is unsafe.
Again, rocks in your head if you think Ginbey meant to push Lalor into a vulnerable teammate.Push, bump, I don't think that specific act is so important, but anytime you see a player propel another player into obvious danger and pull out oneself, that's dangerous play and if injury results, reportable.
On that definition, the Ginbey one the more obvious, I agree - he pulled out of the contest completely by propelling the other person into danger at high speed.

it was just more a case of pulling out of the contest while pushing the other guy into itAgain, rocks in your head if you think Ginbey meant to push Lalor into a vulnerable teammate.

as you said before we might wish we aren't, but we are in a paradigm where outcome is king not intention
Or perhaps fighting cases in court from former players. That may be the case but if the AFL are actually serious about reducing the incidents of head trauma then actions, not outcomes, are what need to be punished.
Bergman pushes off first to protect the space so he can go back to the ball. Need the umpires to just be strict on pushes in the back. Now Hawkins and Riewoldt have retired they probably willadd mitch owens to the list
bet you the CFL acts this week

Seems the AFL are concerned after all...

Last week, the AFL sent out a warning. The league emailed the wrong people
A spate of injuries from pushes in the back prompted the AFL to send a warning to clubs. But it was addressing the effect of the problem, not the cause.www.theage.com.au
The AFL needs to be more proactive than reactive.Media are focusing on it and now so is the AFL.
Anyone surprised?
It's what they do.
Will say there are dangerous shoves in the back done on purpose that are not on.
However not all push in the backs are the same.
God help us if the MRP opens that can of worms.
It's always interesting to see which pussy posters weigh in to dog AP and TT then other Tiges for cheap likes. Already noted in this thread.shouldn't there be some posts from richmond fans who were purportedly really concerned about the state of the game and head/neck knocks based on the briggs incident on the sunday? he was pushed into it by darcy cameron...
if only someone made a thread admonishing the AFL for not doing enough to protect ALL players...
i don’t care about likes on an internet forum m8, i stand by what i posted. a comparable incident happens and there’s crickets in this thread, really shows the optics of what the post was about. poor richmondIt's always interesting to see which pussy posters weigh in to dog AP and TT then other Tiges for cheap likes. AP not everyones cup of tea but way ahead in this area.
Way Ahead.
Copped a pounding for it too. Should not have.
You may take time to read the other thread, up to you. It expands past the one incident. when it happens with other teams, you’d think there’d be some sympathy from those bemoaning it, but it’s silent.
don't see what that has to do with my point, this was the "primary" thread about the incident, and then subsequently any other incidents which occured (the second similarly got discussed), but the third didn't. maybe it's that vicbias i've heard so much about, or maybe it's because Lalor wasn't "nearly killed" as was implied throughout this thread, and instead has been named to debut tonight. You may take time to read the other thread, up to you.
