We've gone totally soft the past month or so. Really weak around the contest so we cant get our running game going, then resort to bombs to packs

Absolutely. Really lifted this quarter. We’d be really stuffed without Hanks .

Yeah they seemed to have less run that quarter.A better quarter from us . Also suspect the Cats are feeling it from last week running around a water logged ground .
I am glad I read this as I would've just driven to Casey on Sunday. It's a disgrace that our home ground advantage which has been massive is now gone. We have played a few games at Ikon and won from memory but conditions Casey provide give a real home ground advantage for us.Playing our home final away at Ikon lol.
Lions are easily the 2nd best team in it anyway, but this is a bit of a stitch up. Not expecting to win and Norf are guaranteed premiers, but surely we are allowed to play our finals at Casey!? This is such a poorly ran comp.
Sound like Geelong right now. Or Richmond in the AFLW when in the same year they told Geelong in the AFL to suck it up and then complained when they had their home final fixtured away from punt road.Playing our home final away at Ikon lol.

Yet they won't use Marvel for the GF? Seems weird they want finals at bigger venues then won't even use their own ground which would fit twice as many people? I swear the AFL have NFI what they are doing half the time.Sound like Geelong right now. Anyways i am not fussed, there are other things i dislike about the competition from it's rules to it's scheduling (which i will get too). The AFL has been very consistent in this regard on hosting finals at bigger and more broadcast friendly grounds in both competitions. I also going to bring up the point I fling at Geelong supporters it's the ground the grand final is played on, you want that experience playing on there (Granted in AFLW it's the grand final ground if it's Victorian hosted but we know it probably will be this year)
What i don't like the competition doing is fixturing us on a Sunday afternoon with our final conflicting and running into the later elimination final rather than giving them clean air. I think it's to have access to the ground and not have a double header after Carlton's lower ranked home final there. We should have played Saturday afternoon or night there
I am agreed that they should be using docklands honestly particularly now it's AFL owned they can hold off a little bit growing the pitches for the renegades. It should be used for the Grand Final in Victoria. A lot of the players and commentators in AFLW want to play on docklands. I can understand the VFL moving its grand final away from docklands as it never gelled with the traditional clubs and history of the comp. The AFL also stupidly lacked foresight when it pushed Carlton into closing Princes park, not just for AFLW way in the future, but for having a boutique stadium and suburban footy hub for leagues like the VFLYet they won't use Marvel for the GF? Marvel also insulates the game from the elements so should assist with skills etc even if its blowing a wild gale/pissing down.I am agreed that they should be using docklands honestly particularly now it's AFL owned they can hold off a little bit growing the pitches for the renegades. Doubly sad interstate side, we probably won't see a packed Adelaide Oval for a grand final. Or any other of the venues that switch to cricket now that the season ends with cricket season underway
I don't remember what year it was but it was early years i remember going to an AFLW game between the doggies and us at docklands and it was actually well attended or felt so
So yes, i am happy to understand and play finals a princes park, that doesn't mean we aren't in agreement with the AFL's stupid as **** management with better options
Bannan's been struggling imo... this season, as has McNamara.Bests imo and i'm gonna give it to players i thought had impact rather than a lot of the ball
Gillard
Hore
Bannan
Shoutouts to Zanker, Heath and McNamara i suppose
Paxman looked cooked on Conway
Our opponents are getting bigger than our players. We are not great at out-bodying our opponents. need to work on this.Yeah, she'd have been a huge difference for us. Still think everyone has been playing for 2nd all year given Norf's dominance. The comp has evened out a lot this season (bar the Roos), so not entirely unsurprising to lose a couple close ones. But so annoying it happens basically the same way each time.
I am agreed, in this game vs Brisbane it was probably her best game as she was involved in the play a lot which is why i put her in my bests at the time. The rest of the year, eh asides from two good quarters against the pies. Bannan appears to be playing a key role, in a side that has Zanker and Harris in it. She's also not overly physical, her best attributes are her speed for her size which in her position isn't being used, i saw her take the game on with a bounce vs brisbane this year and that was it. Love her, but she is out wrestled far to easily and it's not very often she'll win a contested ground ball either, she's more likely to give up front position for a ball in dispute and push her opponent into the contest where they'll win it. In the marking contest she is polar opposite to Zanker with how she positions and uses her body. I'm probably being overly critical because she's my favourite and also being very honest here I do exactly the same stuff in local footy too and i frustrate myself to no end giving up the contest (not intentionally), so it's equally frustrating to see her do itBannan's been struggling imo... this season as has McNamara.
Bannan seems to be too defensive minded, and needs freeing up a bit... I would like to see her off a wing for a bit.
McNamara appears to have put on some weight, and looks to have lost some zip and agility. Maybe try her as a defensive half-forward.?
But the big loss is Purcell.
And now we've just lost Maeve Chaplin to a hamstring.
