The "Big Four" Tag, Does It Really Matter To Us ??

Reading a thread on the main board and the old SEN breakfast team apparently made these comments :

Garry Lyon: "Carlton don't deserve to be considered big four like Richmond, Collingwood and Essendon anymore."

Tim Watson: "They aren't a destination club, no one wants to go there."

Whilst we have always been known as one of the 'Big Four', if we have dropped out of this fictitious standing, does it really matter any more ??

Will say that not only is the concept of the big 4 outdated and irrelevant, but Watson's views on the state of play at Carlton is too.

Of course we are part of the ‘Big 4’ And yes it is important. Stature is everything in this game and we as a big club should defend our importance at every opportunity. Why? Because the AFL know that our 50k members is the equal of the Hawks 75k members and most probably 25% more.

We are not a club that has done the membership thing well and yet we would pull 85k + whenever we play any of the other big4...

The sleeping giant is almost awake and the rest of the competition better wake the * up and take notice.

When we open our wallet we will be a destination club, simple...

If we are relying on the opinions of Lyon and Watson for our self esteem as a club, it is already too late.
