Gary Ayres would think that Gary Ayres would be worth a call, because Gary Ayres would never say never to Gary Ayres having another crack at it.who is there that actually wants the job? before anything the recruiting department and development coaches have to go.

No offence, but I don't buy that. You hear this every time a coaches head is on the block - 'he has lost the players', they say. Yet losing badly is not evidence of a coach losing his players. Where is the evidence he has lost the players? He hadn't lost them pre-season, a mere two months ago. I've not heard of any serious claim of internal dissent. I agree, if the players are lost to the coach, then he goes. But this call is often bandied about without any base in reality.

Melbourne certainly showed some effort at times, but at other times, I saw players making no effort to chase, no effort to tackle. It was embarrassing and Neeld can't be blamed for players half assing it on the field. I'm sure there's plenty of blame to go around overall, but agree with the quote that you either have faith in him to institute his plan, or don't let him go all in with his plan, cutting players etc.
Best comment on talkback...send 'em to Tasmania and call them the Van Demons.
Well, some cheeky West Aussie commandeered that joke on talkback this weekThat was my joke from a few weeks back - The Van Diemans Land Demons!

Neeld never had the players though. They loved Bailey but hated Schwab, protested in the form of 186, and then the unexpected result was Bailey getting sacked and Schwab getting to appoint Neeld. Neeld came in as a hardass, disrespected the leadership group, and generally got a lot of the senior players offside.
Its a **** up of astronomical proportions. Should have kept Bailey and sacked Shwab, even though my opinion at the time was the opposite.
No one in their right mind is going to go anywhere near the place unless the get carte blanche authourity to bring in ther own people and start afresh and get a long term deal. The Board need all there ducks in a row before they get to that point.
Just as a curiosity has anyone had a look at the team Melbourne fielded on the weekend, and compared it to their own side.
How many of your best 22 do you think you could take out, and still be competitive against the current Melbourne side and how much of that is purely personnel and something the coach cannot control.
