The more I hear about Ball from St.Kilda supporters the less enthused I am.
He is not quick, can't kick more than 30 metres and has a 28 yr old body.
I just hope we keep looking around for the next Liam Jurrah.
Interesting that they say that Panos is first round to rookie...
Not that I disagree, I think we should take best available ruckman @ pick 34.Can we please avoid taking a ruckman with pick 11 or 18.
Here's a little bit of research on the kinds of ruckman who have gone around the late first round/early second round mark in recent years
Ball is being underrated on forums at present. I agree that much depends on his body. It's not unusual for a player in his mid 20's to really get to know his body and how to get the best out of it. But let's not forget that Ball has averaged 20 games per season for the last 7 years.

Sounds a bit like David Gourdis (Richmond). Most phantom drafters had him going 1st round, and he slipped to the rookie draft, which appears to be the right selection.
nah hes a spud, man playing against boys at u18 level, poor mans tommahawkFor the love of God please select Aaron Black at #11.

Jake Carlisle and Benjamin Griffiths are two I haven't heard much about, seem to be good sizes and rated pretty highly. Could they maybe be around at 18 if we went best available at 11?
He was a kamikaze midfielder in his younger days. He used to get concussed every second week. Has anyone seen McLean go in for the ball with the ferocity of Luke Ball or Michael Voss ?

Those advocating Black, and you may well be right, have you seen him play ?
If so where and when ?
Round 1 2007 when he ran back with the flight and Gehrig came the other way.
You're an absolute fool if you think McLean wasn't hard at it.

You're an absolute fool if you think McLean wasn't hard at it.
And you're deluded if you think he's as hard as the Joel Selwoods of this world.
McLean was OK in the hardness stakes, but not great. There are many harder.
Tell me why he wasn't as hard as the others.
Please, there isn't a real difference. Some players are hard, some aren't. There isn't really degrees of 'hardness'.
