Awesome Work WA. A couple months ago it was hard imagine us winning it with a bunch of players out of form, injured or on national duties. The Win is quite outstanding and we likely look even better next season with a few more players coming back into the fold as well as the development of some of the kids

Cartwright has copped the flack at times throughout the season but has stepped up big times in both finals this season.

I’m excited for next season with a few of our bowlers coming back from injury as well as the kids in connoly and Goodwin. Even Teague.

Big year for Hardie. Really need to start pushing his credentials for higher honours

Gannon aggregate 50 runs and 8 wickets. Probably the more deserving MOM for mine but Whiteman did set the tone of the game and set Tassie straight to the back foot so I do get it.

Yeah I would have gone to him for best on ground. Cartwright scored the most runs but to me Whiteman was easily most important in the first innings (offered very few chances and guaranteed at worst a solid first innings total for WA), and then Connolly pushing the total from what could have been 250-300 out to nearly 350. And then a lot of Cartwright’s runs in the second innings were just piling on what was already looking like an insurmountable lead. Take nothing away from him though, he batted very well.

Gannon was the best bowler on the ground on a pitch that was at least somewhat conducive to scoring. Pretty impressive that a 35 year old on the fringes takes MOM in what was basically a Shield semi-final and then quite easily could have been MOM in the final. Came up big when it counted.

Feel like the grounds crew at the WACA deserve credit for that wicket in the final. Offered the type of bounce that you expect from a WACA pitch but more for the spinners than usual, held up nicely across the four days and batsmen got good value for playing their shots once they got their eye in.

Jhye Richardson’s career is surely at a crossroads. Huge talent but have the injuries sapped his ability? And he looked overweight when bowling when he came back from injury. Don’t think he’s at imminent risk of losing his state contract but another year like this one and there won’t be any more interest from the IPL and the door might just shut for national selection as well.

We got sent in to bat and Whiteman put up a century opening stand with Short before posting his own 100 at a strike rate of 67.5

Saw us through to 3/193 when he was dismissed in the 55th over

From that point we were able to control the game

He set the tone and deserved to be MotM

Outstanding effort from WA and Voges deserves a lot of the credit for what’s been the most successful era for WA cricket. And we’ve had done good patches in the past

Christina Matthews deserves credit as CEO for overseeing a dominant period for our state

Yeah he isn’t far off 30 either. Needs to get his body right asap cause once you hit 30 the selectors are likely to rule you out

4 guys had a pretty good case for MotM.

Personally I would have gone Gannon, Whiteman, Rocc, Cartwright but can't be too unhappy that the top 4 in a match all came from WA and it is hard to argue with the century at the start of the game to put us in control was super important. But we put them to the sword in their first innings and from then on it was up to us to lose it.

So how long before people outside of WA start talking about how damn good Rocc is?

There's a very solid argument to say he's overtaken Murphy to be the next best spinner in Aus after Lyon.
He's damn good, but two points I would make -

1. He's not particularly economical. That's fine if you are after a wicket-taking strike spinner, but not if you need a bowler to held up an end for 25 overs.

2. He's highly specialised for the WACA. He uses bounce very very well. Take him to the subcontinent and let's see how he goes on low slow turners.
