The R Warnock Factor

Yes, the other brother.

Rumour is he wants home, we're in the box seat considering we have the No.1 pick in the PSD (which we should encourage him to take advantage of, rather than having ourselves bent over to get him).

Just incidentally though, not sure how many of you out there have brothers, but if I was an AFL player and returning to my home state, the first club I'd probably rule out would be my brother's club, wouldn't it be a lot more fun to play against them, Voss v. Voss style? or the great Jakovich moment after Allen kicked that goal in the early '90s.

I know i'd rather play against my brother.

But i have heard that they're pretty close, i think an interview where one of them said they talk to each other pretty regularly, which is good for us.

He holds the key to lots of decisions does brother warnock. Whites future, whether we elevate The Spence, who we take in the draft, will all be effected by whether we get him in trade week.

We'll all know in less then 2 agonisingly long months. At least we don't have to worry about the bother of finals and we can concentrate on list management and draftees....

most sertain his brother will come and join the dees next year and help us in our rebuilding phrase

Hard for me to say as I don't have a brother but I'd have thought sharing good memories like a premiership together would be better than having beat your brother in a GF. Robnock would be a very handy inclusion, hope it happens.

Apparently knockers loves Freo but he has also said he would like to play with his brother. Saying that, considering what Freo have invested in him, I dont think he will go to Melb in the PSD as he knows he owes the club more than that. I think he might cost you one of your 2nd round picks though.

did you guys see the half-time info from the swans-cats game? melbourne met with robbie on thursday and gave him the full p/point presentation on joining the demons- included on this lil presentation were 8 senior players. He is said to be very impressed. You guys prob already know, but thought i would add it just incase. BTW good win today, wether we tanked or not i dont know, but we played shit and you played better. Simple.

Just think of the happy memories Jay Viney, Brian Stynes and either Cockatoo-Collins brother have of playing with their brothers.. for ten minutes.

Jay was average but well above Brian & Donald/David's class.

On what I've seen if anyone is the "other brother" here it's Matty as decent as he's been this year, but in my experience the younger brothers are often better. Glen > Allen, James > Anthony & Alex, Daniel > Shannon etc...

Wanna see Rob Warnock @ Melbourne next year!

Yeah I just heard that myself. Warnock will be a Demon next year by the looks and I don't see why he necessarily won't do it through the PSD. I know it is regarded at times as a bit of a dog act when a player does that sort of thing but they also have a right to do the right thing by the club they are going to as well. At the end of the day he has only played about 12 games at Freo, most of which have been later this season now that they want him to stay.

On another topic, I have heard that Melbourne are going after about 6 big names at the end of the season. I would assume they will have at least a "go" at Jonathan Brown but there are others as well. We may just jag our first big name recruit for a while... or maybe a couple. I haven't looked for the source online but apparently this was news reported from a Herald Sun guy at half time of the channel 10 game tonight. I know this is all very vague atm so I'll see if I can find it...

Have you just come back from overseas ?
No I realise he has been in the mix for a little while, what I meant was that I don't know if he is included in that group of 6 players or if these 6 players are on top of Brown.

Thanks for posting that mate, i heard Quarters mention that at 1/4 time but i didnt watch the game after that and didn't find out what player they were talking about.

From all reports Warnock likes freo as a club, but would lik to come back to melbourne for other reasons. Because of that i can't see him going through the PSD, he'll want freo to get something out of it. Hopefully we can get away with a player and a 3rd round or something, i don't want to give up a top 20 pick.

I wonder if jeff white called his manager after watching that half time report last night?

White for Warnock. That would seem consistent with Freo's past efforts during trade week :D

I'll never admit Glen was better than Allen no matter what the stats say.

The stats say over 200 goals in a handful of injury riddled games versus getting cheap kicks in the backline of a dominant team. Allen>>>>>Glen.

Good point.

I mean on the one hand you have a dual premiership player, dual All Australian, 3 times club fairest and best (twice when WC were the best team in the land) and a Hall of Fame Inductee.

On the other hand you have Allen Jakovich.

;)

By the way, Allen had more talent than 95% of blokes that play AFL. Unfortunately he had less brains than 95% of the blokes that play AFL collectively.

That is actually one of the great misconceptions in football. Doug Hawkins is an excellent example. Sure he is (or acts) like an idiot off the field and probably wouldn't have the highest IQ but on the field he was not only talented but also quite smart. Similarly Jackovich on field was quite smart as he used his talents as best possible. Off field I can't comment regarding Jackovich because I don't know.
