I've got a bad feeling about this game...

I was reasonably positive going into the Swans game. I thought we had 3 key factors in our favour:
  • Adelaide were clearly in good form.
  • We finally had a game plan that would trouble the Swans.
  • The game was being played on our home deck.
Only 1 of those factors holds true against Hawthorn - we're still in good form.

Right now, Hawthorn are a sleeping giant, just rolling along in cruise control. They're doing enough to win games against the lesser sides, and not wasting one more joule of energy than they have to. However, when a team comes along that has delusions of grandeur, they wake up and squash them like a bug. Take their response to the Weagles as a prime example. It's about maintaining the mental dominance over the rest of the competition - reminding everyone else that they're the King of the Jungle, and making sure that everyone else has the mindset that they're the underdogs.

What a crock of shit Vader.

There is no doubt that Adelaide have a much better game plan this year. It's still not going to trouble the Hawks. Our plan is very similar to the Weagles - no surprise, given where Pyke was working last year. The Hawks have smashed the Weagles in their last 2 encounters. They know how to beat it and they have the personnel to do it.
Unfortunately, I see the "real" Hawthorn turning up this Friday. If that happens, Adelaide will get blown off the park.

You seem to be hung up on the Weagles...;)
I don't think you will see Adelaide beaten by 40 points by anyone, let alone Hawthorn.
Confidence is our key.

Adelaide may or may not lose but Hawthorn are not a sleeping giant. Not anymore. They will finish somewhere between 5-8th this year.

May be a tad OTT, but I challenge anyone to name a bigger challenge than attempting to beat the triple reigning premiers on their home deck, especially coming off 6 straight losses against them.
Playing us in a knockout final at the G?

For what it's worth I have no idea what we will dish up on Friday, but I always tip my boys, win or lose. In last years final we were coming off a drubbing against the Eagles (down 50 points at 3/4 time) and the haters were tipping the end of an era. We have yet to kick 100 points this year but I hope that "Our House, Our Rules".

My tip: Hawthorn by 40.

Me finks you're a truck or three irrational because you can't fathom with any rational sense how we're really traveling,in the middle of a very challenging period for the club. No ones doing it harder than us.

They didn't squash the Bulldogs who also play a fast paced running game

Nope he didn't say that. He did sound very surprised still when McClure said we were a lock for Top 4.
Im surprised someone says we are a lock for top 4, is anyone yet?

No.. I just don't think Hawthorn should be underestimated. They have lost a few players from their most recent premiership, but the core of the team remains in place. They are still a very, very, very good team. Anyone who thinks otherwise is downright delusional.

You might want to remind yourself how they started last season. I'm fairly sure you remember how they ended it.

Write them off at your peril. I'm certainly not willing to do that.

Last season is last season. If the same thing repeats every year lets just award Hawthorn the cup and be done with it. Reality is statistically they are a shadow on last years first 4 rounds. They arent scoring as dominantly and they are off defensively too. Trust me, they are a more beatable side this year than last. I am still not saying we will win, but it won't be because Hawthorn are a better side.
