My workmate who had his car stolen from the staff car park yesterday.

Left keys in ignition and doors unlocked (obviously if keys in ignition) because he "hates to carry his car keys around all day" end quote.

Come again? o_O

I'm not going to say he deserved it, but he can't complain about having his car stolen if he left the keys in the ignition and the doors unlocked.

It's a little bit like placing a grilled sirloin out next to the dog's dish and then getting annoyed at the dog for eating it. Of course it was going to happen.

Yes he was very adamant re. his reasoning. Well why dont you just leave your keys on your desk or pigeon hole ffs!! The car is crap tho apparently not worth much, but it would be very inconvenient. And it creeps me out some random woman was going through our staff car park while we were all in a PD. She flipped the car as well onto its roof so her joyride was short lived.

Also insurance aren't going to help him either when he made it so welcoming for theft.

Yeah insurance will tell him to gtfo.

Least take it out of the ignition. Hide it somewhere in the car.

"hi Peter, this is Adrian speaking".

Literally just made a phone call to a work phone

Him: *mock asian accent* "Harro?"
Me: "Hello is this Craig?"
Him: "It could be, who is this?"

What the ****.

I get the opposite of that when I call work

"Hello?"
"Hey, it's Mark"
"Yeah I know"

What else am I meant to say?

You should be able to leave your car unlocked with the windows down, keys in the ignition, wallet on the front seat and freshly baked apple pie cooling on the dash.

Wouldn't recommend it, though.
If I was a dodgy character I'd almost be reluctant to steal thinking I'm being set up or it's a trap or something.

I leave my second old car in the carport with the keys in the ignition but it's probably lucky to be worth $200.

I often leave my car unlocked at home. It's a quiet street and a shitty car. My main motivation for locking it is the contents.

The only 2 times times I left my car unlocked a couple of years apart in my own carport ( 2 different locations)it was opened and glove contents (nothing of value) rifled through. True story. Don't even live in a shitty area. Wierd asf.
