So what Richmond are saying is,

It certainly can come across that way, but I think the club just likes to have control over a situation. VFL introduces risk outside of their own rigorous regulations and they don’t want anything to come about from it. The way I see it, it’s either AFL alone or nothing should anything happen at VFL level.
If we’re not part of the VFL to start off with, then Richmond will continue on without quarantining should a VFL player from another club get coronavirus.

Sucks but it’s the right thing to do.
I can see other clubs with their own state league team doing the same thing going forward.

Doing the responsible action by self isolating the club...
So you might as well can the AFL as well because they are all linked. 44 on a list, 22 play means 22 will not play any football for the season. Let's hope there are no injuries because those coming in will have no games under their belt.

More players will rotate through the senior side anyway, because of the condensed game schedule.

Cant get excited about this season.
It seems inevitable that it will compromised too much.
The premier will be team less affected by all of this. Player availablity, draw etc

Alternatively, the AFL premier will be the team that best manages an intense season. The game plan that best stacks up to lots of games in a short period, great injury management, and the team with the most resilience and leadership. It could end up like a long finals campaign - except that 1/2 of the teams just give up when they find themselves out of it and unable to deal with the pressure. Imagine the kids getting smashed week after week and teams getting injuries and having to play unready guys. Or teams managing player rotations and using their depth and cohesiveness to dominate. Could be great or a total train wreck.
If they come in full on in the last 1/2 of the season and try to play extra games with no rest week it'll be like mayhem for some clubs. Hope we're ready for it to happen.
