Re: Troy Broadbridge

Has anyone got a link, or a reliable source. Its great news but Im not getting my hopes up until Im sure hes safe, or until I see him talking on tv.

Re: Troy Broadbridge

That's fantastic news, and I hope it is true.

Total Package - if you can't understand why people are upset over your stupid, ignorant comments, then I'm wondering if you have a conscience at all. I am not interested in getting you banned, I really couldn't care less. I would simply describe myself as a decent caring human being who has been affected by this tragedy. To say that he had little chance, well, what kind of person are you. How would you know? You didn't. And you don't. Its very simple..

Re: Troy Broadbridge

Why don't you all shut up! Stop fighting....think about all the other poor, poor people out there in Thailand etc etc who are dying, just because Troy is famous it doesn't make him any more of a person than any one else. And don't think you know him more just because he plays footy. Geez, have some sympathy for the others out there.

I know, it is sad, it's just as bad as the bali bombing and two towers, although they weren't natural disasters!

Re: Troy Broadbridge

apparetly SEN has stated that channel 7 has retracted its statement that Troy Broadbrige is alive. SEN reports that they have spoken to Troy's father off air and he has stated that they have heard nothing.

Troy deserves credit due to the fact he saved a life and risked his own....

People shouldnt lose site of the website we r on. This is about football, we all feel for the rest of the victims and their families. But this is a football site and when footballers are involved then its normal we talk about them. The rest are not forgotten

Without sounding like a heartless ass perhaps this is the event the world needed.

The world before now was in total disarray and was collapsing upon itself, here's hoping this can unify all nations together a bit more so that no matter what creed, colour, race or religion the people affected are, we can all work together to fix what is truly one of the most horrific natural disasters of all time.

To all the people affected, be they Sri Lankan, Indonesian, Thai or otherwise. My heart, hopes and prayers go out to you. To Troy Broadbridge (of whom I can honestly say I was not a fan but who has been elevated tenfold in my eyes) I pray that you may be safe mate, but if not, you shall live on forever in the football public's hearts and minds for the true heroism you displayed in placing the life of a loved one above all else including your own personal safety.

I truly hope and pray that all those Foreigners involved return home safely and here's hoping the government provides as much assistance as we can possibly muster to help out these poor unfortunate souls.

All football aside this is a massive tragedy - We really are the lucky country...
Rave and everyone dont take this the wrong way. But unless each and everyone here who has been shocked into feeling anger ,remorse, sadness and grief clicked on the little red X in the corner and got out of your leather recliner and did something , then yes the world will change.

But you wont, I wont and next weeks story will overtake these events rapidly as the media look for the next thing to sell papers and keep people watching tv.

I am also confused as to why someones stocks rise tenfold for been missing? Isnt that a little overkill? I hope the footballer is ok but he is a person not a saint, he didnt carry homeless people out of alleyways when he was back in Melbourne?Unless I missed something?

As posted people will forget as soon as Mog or Seven or SaveFerris post a thread based on Seinfelds nothing.

Well said. And that's the point. Nothing will change, and if anything could change we should be paying attention to the 1 billion people who starve everyday. We all feel the empathy back here, and we all wish we could do something.

BUT we're all bloody glad it wasn't us. And that's the truth.

I wish for the best for whoever is lost or missing over there. I hope their families get to see their loved ones alive again.

An Australian Footballer is no different to an Indonesian sex worker, and I wish all who have and will suffer, an eased path through this destined act.

(I didnt enjoy you using me as an example there PerthCrow... Should I not be allowed to start a trivial thread now because of this tragedy?)

My apologies.. I used the three because to me you are the ones more likely to start a thread and keep everyone amused with the randomness of nothing...as Seinfeld was described...I was more having a shot at the people on BF who respond to some of those threads with the glee of little children left alone with red crayon.By all means start a thread on whichever topic amuses you I wont think less of you.

Re: Troy Broadbridge

Cool.. I didnt take it personally really.. I understood the point you were trying to make, and I agree whole-heartedly (Mr Big). I guess I just didnt like my name being flippantly used....as I would never do such a thing.

I never quite know how to respond in situations like this.Got a nasty shock to hear an AFL player was missing, followed by a bit of guilt for worrying about one celebrity when upwards of 20 000 people are dead or missing.

I suppose that when its a public figure, people tend to care more about them because it puts some kind of readily identifiable face on the tragedy. I guess there's nothing wrong with that its just the way we are. But it is a little depressing to realise that human nature dictates that we worry more about the life of one individual who we maybe see on telly once a week than thousands of other faceless people affected by this tragedy.

The next few days are going to be a pretty tough time for everyone everywhere who is waiting for news about a relative or loved one. As for Troy, like everyone else on here I hope against hope that we'll hear he's okay, but at this stage it isn't looking good.

We at Essendon feel the same way as the above.

It's really hitting EVERYONE very hard. And sadly, it's just going to get worse for a while yet.

:(

Agree pazz.......I am sure we are all praying that he is found and that the thousands of others missing are found.

Troy no doubt is one of 100,s of hero,s while staring death in their face.A true test of character is when one is faced with a life threatening situation to put his/her own life second behind a loved one.
My heart goes out to Troy,s wife and his family along with all that have been effected by this tragedy.

Like everyone else I hope for the best for Troy. There has been a fair bit on the tragedy in the media, but rightly or wrongly it sometimes takes that personal stuff to stand up and take notice.

Like some other North supporteres this news does bring back memories of the Bali/McCartney situation. For the Dees out there, many of whom I don't regularly see eye to eye with my thoughts are with you. Times like this that your own troubles, and gripes pale into insignificance and I hope it all turns out for the best.

Certainly true. IIIRC the BAM earthquake exactly one year earlier (what is it about boxing day?) only got a tiny fraction of attention given to this disaster, largely because without names or faces, it's a largely impersonal thing (although I know someone who lost 20 members of her family in Bam)

Let's all pray together for Troy.

I'm not a religious man but this is worth it.
Why pray? Surely if you believe in God you believe this is His work?

All people of faith should be "impressed" yet again with his ability to exterminate people of all ages, faiths and race.

LMFAO - pray, yeah that'll help.

Broadbridge still missing in Phuket

22 minutes ago - ABC

There is still no news on missing Melbourne Football Club defender Troy Broadbridge, who was in Phuket on Thailand's west coast when the area was hit by massive tsunami waves.

Broadbridge was on honeymoon with his new wife Trisha, who is safe and well.

Melbourne's players are currently on holidays and the club says they are desperately awaiting news of their team-mate.

Melbourne chief executive Steve Harris said: "It is devastating. Troy is a great player and team-mate, our thoughts are with his family and wife Trisha.

"We all feel particularly helpless at this time as all we can do is sit and wait for news."

Club officials are in contact with the family and the club chaplain is available to all players and staff.

The club says Broadbridge's family was distressed when some television stations last night incorrectly announced that Broadbridge had been found.

The death toll from the tsunamis was nearing 60,000 this morning.
