Today we had one of the most bizarre and comical umpiring performances in recent times. Williamson, who's still new to the AFL, made three horrendous decisions in the first half, paying a 50m penalty and a push in the back against the wrong team.
Umpires: Stevic, Williamson, Glouftsis
Stevic: 4/10
Can't bounce to save himself, technique is very poor and its probably a confidence issue, could also be back related. Lacks the pace to move around the ground so takes up bad positions and is frequently out of position. His bouncing is a particularly low light, throwing the ball instead of rotating his body, forcing numerous recalls, almost every bounce was recalled.
Williamson: 3/10
Made three of the all time worst decisions. A 50m penalty for 10m encroachment against the players team mate, a push in the back to essendon when the essendon player pushed the carlton player, and a mark off about 6 sets of hands. Positioning was really bad, either too far or way too close to the play and almost wiped out a few times. Second half a lot better.
Glouftsis: 7/10
Easily the best of the three. Consistently good bounces, good positioning and good calls. Rarely missed anything.
