What about trading pick 10 and Lonie to the lions for pick 4 or
Tarrant and pick 10 to the lions for pick 4 and pick 22.

Interesting idea but I doubt that the rebuilding Lions will give up their 4th pick in the so-called 'super draft'. They're looking at another premiership run in about 5 years time I reckon. No point in going for a mid-age player who most probably won't be offering them a whole lot in this period.

i doubt tarrants going anywhere.

and what makes you think brisbane would take lonie, or that lonie would go to brisbane?

a few years ago he was subject of some heavy criticism from brisbane.

You cant just assume [Insert pick here] + [insert player here] = done deal

What the hell would we do with Lonie? You haven't had any recent success with your trading with Brisbane and Matthews, so why do you think this year would be any different. Matthews is not stupid.

Hmmm, funny that, i believe he put this on the Collingwood board to discuss, not on the main board where the anti-pies such as yourself could get on with attitude.

Its a very appealing idea to trade pick 10 and a player for a better draft pick.
Sounds very appealing.
Use teams like WB, WCE, Essendon ect who are aiming for flags in the next few years with a 3-way trade to get ourselves a better pick and off-loading a player that might fit their structure.

essendons aiming for a flag in the next few years?

In principle I would love to trade up pick 10 but realistically that means treading with one of 9 clubs. You would think the first 3 at least wouldn’t give up their pick given the reports on the likely early pick candidates and pick 8 or 9 wouldn’t be a whole lot better than 10 in all likelihood given the way the draft has been talked up. That means trading with Bris., Port, Haw. or Geelong. Brisbane wouldn’t be interested in Lonie given how they seem to view him after some comments from their players. Port are not great trading partners for us.

If we could trade Lonie and 10 for 6 or 7 then I’d do it. Hawthorn already offloaded his twin so I suspect they wouldn't be interested. O’Bree & Lockyer might be remote possibilities but possibly involving 3rd clubs. All in all it’s a pretty remote possibility I think. We’d have more chance of trading up our second pick I suspect and settling for 10 and something around 20. If we could swing a deal for, say, Lockyer and a Cloke to upgrade round 3 to early 2 then I’d be very happy. Maybe try and involve Freo with Lockyer. Not very likely but we should try.

If we were to trade Tarrant it would have to be for a quick mid and a first round pick. If no one wants to come to the party then forget it.

For god sake......Tarrant....AGAIN....there are another 4-5 players i would trade before Tarrant!!!! please think before you type such rubbish!

First of all, the top 22-25 picks are all good players, hardly any clubs will trade round 1 picks...

Tarrant is a key position players, and we are not exactly growing key position players from anywhere, you have to have someone to replace him before you trade someone like Tarrant, he is only just turned 25...sign Tarrant to a 1 year performance based contract, if he comes good again then sign him to another 3 year deal....he will accept it if he wants to stay at the pies!! :D

Maybe we should try for a swap.
Lockyer for James Walker.
His grandfather was a legend at our club,so I'm sure he would want to play for the Pies.

Upgrading pick 10 wold be alright if we had a player in mind and were sure we needed that pick to secure him. However the top 5 or so are mostly key position players when we need midfielders.
Pick 10 and say Maxwell would only move us up a couple of places (not suggesting Maxwell will go, just depicting how hard it would be).

So to get into a pick 5 or better would be really tough.
Perhaps Pick 10 and Swan would be needed.
And then we would need to ask "is it worth it?"
