VFL VFL R5 Sandringham v Frankston

Richo said last week in one of his many interviews that if we had more money the thing he he would most like us having is our own VFL/Reserves team. Said it was vital to our development. Said the playing of our guys sometimes in the Dev team was not ideal. Is it next year we get our own team? Or year after?
Not sure, but I dont think it is 2016.

I don't see a problem?

I'd rather young players around Cockie, Cooke, TDL (who btw is a great leader) CJ and other experience heads.

If the players are good enough they'll get a game

Against inferior opposition on a belter of a day

Holmes dominated
Pierce was good
Minchington excellent in the centre clearances
Saad the most dangerous player on the ground
Saunders (twos) prolific
Wright worked hard, was untidy though
Simpkin rock solid
Murdoch, started with a few kicks... Seems to be off the pace
Membrey a cut above
Curren near BOG... Busy
White.. Tried hard, stuffed up a lot and just devoid of confidence. I thought he did alright
Ray... Did it easy, disposal poor at times
Lee. Bog down back in the first.. Moved fwd and presented well
Acres. Did his own thing. With ease

Cockie, Jones, Brown, Le Grice, Shakallis, Ong and zajai were outstanding too...

Saad might be back in next week if he keeps this up and we want to give Lonie and/or Sinclair a rest. Was a level above last week as well. Much better and more consistent form than he was showing earlier in the year. Great to see Lee and Acres doing well again too. Hope we swing Lee forward sometime soon now that his confidence is high again. Kicked 4 or 5 against them down there last year IIRC.

Sinclair is gone next week - Richo said he drops off the main list to make way for Ross.

Pierce was out there in the seniors, I've noticed a few people have mentioned development but he was definitely in the ones.

Lee was very good in Q4, I wouldn't give up on him just yet.

Acres did enough to warrant selection, absolutely should be in next week, he is one of my favourites so I make sure I watch him pretty closely and liked what I saw today.

Today was one of those days in which Spencer should've dominated, really disappointing. Bruce, Hickey, Paddy and Membrey are our future forward line unless something dramatically clicks with the kid.

Lee is actually a better backman that forward imo. Del, Hugh and Lee could be a great back 3 in a couple of years with Robbo the tall/small.

Disappointing not to see Hugh or Paddy.

Maybe Saad should just copy Betts and be unaccountable. Forward pressure is great, but someone has to be a selfish poacher. Saad had the speed, agility and skills.
Ridiculous comparison.
Eddie has almost 400 AFL goals at 1.7 and averages 3.7 tackles a game.
May as well compare Tommy Lee with Roo.

We have a couple of players on the list atm who are visibly down on confidence and unhappy.

Very much a Cayden Beetham situation ... I am not sure at least one of them are very popular team mates.

I think both know their fate and are playing like dead men walking.

Not sure I indicated Saad was as good as Eddie?!

To give people an understanding of his influence in the VFL game vs Frankston

I used the comparison of what Betts did to us in an AFL game

Both dominated their games at the relative levels.

Can confirm that Acres and Membrey were spoken to at 3 qtr time and rested from halfway through qtr. They will play seniors.
Saad will probably return also with Geary and Joey
Outs
Roo, Shenton, Sinclair, Lonie, and another
Can we make an assumption that they are now grooming Lee as a backman and his AFL chance will come if/when one of Dempster/Fisher/Del get injured?

Spencer and someone else...

I know you make the effort and do good reviews. Can you give us a bit more insight into where you see the Minch.
I ask because along with Spence he is un-contracted. They arent giving him a go at AFL level. What would you do with him?

Yes... Sonny

But it was strange that after a 8 pos 5 mark opening term

He was switched with Brown... The team leading goal kicker

Lee looks confident at that level atm

It's Brodie... Normally a very demonstrative, intense player... He looks frustrated and very unsure of himself... Lacks run and confidence.

Injury can be hard for fringe players to cope with...

Siposs the same... He wasn't there today.

I'm actually unaware of where he fits in. He probably feels the same

Sip was there. Sitting up the back of the grandstand with Robbo. Payne and Paddy were up there too.

Agree, Spence is very lackadaisical. Just lacking effort at times.

Murds was quiet but he's coming back from a back injury that had him listed as 'indefinite'. No real idea what was actually wrong with him but it looks as if it was serious I reckon it might take a him a while to get back into it.

Minchington is different to Curren and Saunders.

He doesn't win as much of the footy on the spread, less aerobic. But is a cleaner clearance player.

He is however, much more skilled with his hands and feet.
Can play small fwd or his best position... Rover.

He is AFL standard. No doubt.

Also a better player than Eli and Sinclair atm and imo

Should be rotating with Jack Steven imo

I hate saying negative things about anyone who has pulled on a Saints jumper but Sippo just not good enough, fumbly hands and bad decision maker

Brodie and Spencer have far different body language to last year... They look agitated... Frustrated... Upset.

Injury is no doubt the reason Brodie is struggling...

Saw the others, but not Arryn.
