What's happening to the joint.

Was down for the game and stayed at a mate's place in Clifton Hill. Walked past it on a stroll to the city Wednesday morning. Stands look like they'll blow over in the next storm, weeds are overgrown inside the entrance on the train station side of the ground...to be honest, it looks like a wasteland!

the floodlights were on the night before though, is it being used for any football purpose these days?

so collingwood is merely a football club in name only these days.

i can't believe that a place of such historic significance to the club has been abandoned in such a way.

Vic Park was deteriorating at a fast rate (eg they detected legionnaires disease in the airconditioning) and needed upgrades to everything like the stands for the amount of punters that support the pies. I believe the lease was running out so we made the move for the MCG as our home ground and Eddie pushed the move to build a world class facility (Lexus Centre).

Then there was a bitch fight between the council and Collingwood(Eddie) with the council saying Collingwood ruined the place and then nicked off so we want some money. Eddie in turn said get stuffed but I think may have paid some compensation or they were working out a deal. Not sure who is in the wrong though.

Vic Park I believe has plans to be upgraded for more sporting clubs and the community to use but as you know it doesn't look like much has much done which is a terrible shame. :(

There is a plan that was backed by the Vic Govt, AFL, Collingwood Council and CFC to spend quite a few Million on turning it into a local community sporting facility which will be used by the AFL unmpires to train at, amongst others. Was run down when I used to go for a feed at the Social Club in 2003, and hasn't got any better, yet. Hopefully this plan will kick off soon. By the way Essendon fool, when the new stadium is built at Lexus, Pies will be training in a 30-35 000 seat stadium, thats nearly as big as the one you play in. Lightweights=Bombers.

Thanks for that. :thumbsu:

I didn't know they were building a stadium at Lexus. Where abouts? I can't picture it at Gosch's paddock.

is there a high percentage of knobjockys around here? you're the fool. i was making an observation on what I saw!

i appreciate the history of football clubs, and VP was a fortress for Collingwood for a very long time as much as any other the world! i would think that the area and stadium that has basically made this football club what it is today would be preserved. It's had more to do with the aura of Collingwood today than black & white stripes!!

btw, isn't that the rectangular stadium to be used by the victory and storm??? not much good for australian rules football.....mind you, with Eddie at the helm of the rugby league network, he prolly has plans on defecting the cfc to the nrl so he can combine his passion and work once again! ;)

Knobjockey, moi? This is not making an observation it is taking a cheap shot. Yeah like you really give a sh!t about Vic Park. Did I say fool, I meant tool!:p

Frederlick has got it mixed up a bit. The new rectangular stadium is being built on the ground we used to train. Our new training oval will be built where Olympic Park was.
I'am confused because I remember seeing something on the news about the new rugby/soccer stadium and Eddie Mc wanted it mentioned that Collingwood would be using it too. Who knows the real story?
