Bad kicking is BAD football:mad:

Best on Ground
5 - James Gallagher (His best game for the club. Missed a couple of gimmies:mad: )
4 - Mark Bickley (Consistent game. Did the hard things)
3 - Tyson Edwards (Did some sensational things but was too slow to get rid of the ball on 2 crutial occasions)
2 - Simon Goodwin (Great 1st half quiet in the 2nd. Missed a couple of EASY shots)
1 - James Begley (I really like the look of this fella. He'll be good pick up for us)

Best Team Man

3 - Ian Perrie (He was terrific all night at CHF. Great Effort from Perrie. Well Done)
2 - Andrew Crowell (Great stopping game on Bradshaw and Brennan. He was a real rock in defence)
1 - Ken McGregor (Started like a house on fire and he did a few good things all night)

Rookie

None this week.

B.O.G
5. James Gallagher
4. Tyson Edwards
3. James Begley
2. Ben Hart
1. I was going to give this one to Ian Perrie, but he didn't transfer his play into great scores so I have to change and go with, Simon Goodwin.

Best on Ground

5 - Ian Perrie - great game. We played with only the 1 tall up forward and Perrie just kept putting himself in the game non-stop and competed at every ball
4 - James Gallagher - played well but his 3 gimme missed goals were costly
3 - James Begley - excellent debut and showed what a great acquisition he will be to the team
2 - Mark Bickley - typical hard-working gutsy Bickley game.
1 - Mark Riciutto - Was close to our best until I think he got a bit of a knock on his sore back in the 3rd quarter. Still tried hard.

Best Team Man

3 - Ian Perrie - see above
2 - Ken McGregor - really good game in defence and unlucky to miss the best players
1 - Mark Bickley - fearless and a great example

Rookie

1 - Mattner. I thought his game was pretty good and a vast improvement on last week. Worth a point.

BoG
My top 2 might raise a few eyebrows but i thought both were bloody good for the whole game,

5 = I Perrie, top game from sarge who put his body on the line all-night
4 = K McGregor, another polished effort from Kenny & controlled chb
3 = M Bickley, typical Bicks
2 = J Gallagher, terrific game & would have been higher but for those crucial misses for goals that he must learn to kick
1 = J Begley, was pleasantly surprised by his game & should play many more games for us in the future

BTM

3 = M Bickley, :)
2 = M Ricciuto, tried hard & looked sore & sorry
1 = S Goodwin, great 1st half

Rookie

2 = M Mattner, will be a top player

One think I loved was when he beat Brennan for that ball between half forward and the wing. He worked it beautifully there. I think it was in 4th quarter. Much better game this week although he needs to play better to get a vote from me.

As for Perrie, he was sensational and was unlucky with that thumping kick from 60 meters that gave the post a mighty shake. He played in front all night and beat the likes of Lappitsch Michael and Brennan. Well done Sarge.:)

I'll give my votes later, but can I just say, James Gallagher BOG for us?

Yeah he got lots of the ball but what did he actually do with it except spray gettable shots at goal and make bad decisions?

BOG

5- J. Gallagher. The best game I've seen him play so far. He really put the effort in and was constantly hard at the ball.

4- I. Perrie. Took some fantastically strong marks.

3- J. Begley. Im speechless. You wouldnt have been able to tell it was his afc debut- looked like he had been playing for us for about 10 years!!!! He is going to be great for us this year and I can't wait to see more of him, after a stand up performance!!

2. T. Edwards. was tough at the ball all night, and covered the absence of macca in the midfield with precision.

1. S. Goodwin. Was very quiet in the second half, but used the ball particularly well in the first half.

BTM

3. J Gallagher- He is coming of age. the coaching staff have been very patient with him, and now the club is reaping the rewards.

2. J. Begley. need i say more. S-T-A-R

1. I. Perrie. Is this guy tough or what?!?!?!!!!

ROTY
1. M. Mattner- continues to put in 100% each week, even though it doesnt always produce the most spectacular results. Was involved in an instrumental turnover early in the game, which should've resluted in a goal from goody. This dude really showed it up to Jarrad Brennan and made him look like a chook!!!

Yeah, no way could I give him best after those 3 crucial misses for goal, although I did like the rest of his game. I gave him 2nd best but it was a fine line between him and Begley IMO.

I'm surprised how highly most people rated Edwards. He gave 2 crucial goals away by hanging onto the ball in defence for an eternity, which is just not on for an experienced player.

Please...why was Hounddog left on Lynch for so long and why was Bode on the bench for so long

They are the only tip that let me down.
It was a very surgical game.

i agree with this...clarke hasn't been given any votes, but i thought he was pretty important for the crows as well.

btw, since i'm relatively new to the boards, i'm wondering if anyone can post 'votes' & what the guidlines to 'voting' are...(and what happens at the end of the season - does the player get a monaro courtesy of bigfooty :D )

BOG

5 .... Mark Bickley - just did the hard things and kept on getting the ball
4 .... James Gallagher -got plenty of the ball although his disposal let him down at times
3 .... Ken McGregor - great effort at CHB, should he have been moved onto Steriods Lynch?
2 .... Matty Clarke - controlled the game in the first 3 quarters always seemed to get his hands on it first
1 .... Martin Mattner - good chasing & tackling efforts, much better use of the ball this week and did win the ball at crucial times

BTM

3 ... Martin Mattner - Did a couple of smothers that saved goals, chased hard, tackled well. Overall great team effort in the Bickley Mould of player
2 ... Benny Hart - how many times did he leave his man to cover another player or in an effort to double team Lynchroids
1 ... Ian Perrie - tried hard all night, provided a contest and IMHO won his position

Rookie

2 ... Martin Mattner - as above

Once again our Kicking has let as down, this game could have gone our way if the likes of Goodwin, Gallagher and Perrie could only finish off their good work.
I think the loss of Ronnie Burns really hurt us as he had the ball on a string before he went off, after that we didn't look like there was a forward capable of kicking 2 or 3
Also I can't belive that Gary ONCE AGAIN didn't react to what was actually happening on the groung.... at least try someone else on Lynch perhaps McGregor or even Biglands
Anyway at 4-4 we really need to put together some wins in the next few weeks

... and he also lost out in a couple of 50-50's in the 2nd 1/2 that he normally wouldnt and they cost us too.

BOG

5: Ian Perrie. 15 touches, 7 marks, 2 goals against Brisbane at the GABBA as the only tall option. Done son!

4: Mark Bickley. I could use a cliche and say "like a fine wine..." so I will.

3: Matthew Clarke. 32 hit outs and battled hard around the ground against the more agile Charman. Huge effort from the big man.

2: James Begley. Huge debut from the lad... kept a cool head - when it wasn't accidentally knocked off by Leppitsch - and showed he will be in our first eighteen for the rest of the season and beyond as long as he stays fit.

1: Andrew McLeod. 18 touches 2 goals. Showed a touch of class that is lacking in his team-mates.

BTM

3: James Gallagher. Took the bit between the teeth and tried damn hard. Errant kicking and poor decision making are the only things stopping him from taking the next step - must improve.

2: Graham John****. Had a tough job both mentally and physically on one of the Scott twins (they all look the same) and came through with flying colours. 16 touches and 7 marks in another classic utility performance.

1: Ken McGregor. Starting to win me... has a long way to go yet but is beginning to show a smarter football brain around the ground as well as in the contest.

Rookie

Mattner... solid performance. Will continue to improve.

Disappointing match as we certainly had our chances! Very even performance both in the good aspects and the bad.

BOG

5 - Ian Perrie - Presented constantly. Let down by his kicking, but then who wasn't?
4 - James Gallagher - Very solid performance by James.
3 - Mark Bickley - What can one say!
2 - Matty Clarke - Another good ruck performance. A couple of general play mistakes let him down.
1 - James Begley - Very promising first performance.

Found it difficult voting this week, but here it goes.

BOG
5. Perrie - Had to stand up as our only tall forward. Provided a target & kicked better for goal this week.
4. Gallagher - Would have given BOG if not for his missed shots. However, ran hard all night & generally used the ball well.
3. McGregor - Thought he was solid all night.
2. Begley- Looks a great pick up & can't recall him doing anything wrong until being KO'd.
1. Bickley - Of our "name" midfielders, gave the best 4 quarter effort IMO.

BTM
3. Perrie - Was given a different role on the night & did it well.
2. Clarke - Good to see him thump the ball to mix it up with his taps.
1. Hart - Did try & get back & help Basset when possible.

BR
1. Mattner - Contributed enough this week to warrant a vote.

Good to see a few of our posters giving Ian Perrie the credit that his game deserved on Saturday.

As the only tall forward, that meant he had to be involved in every high ball contest, not only against his own man, but the ruckman dropping back as well.

On top of that he had to be a leading forward, a marking forward, as well as battle to keep loose balls in the area.

He earnt a lot of respect from many people last Saturday. It's up to Sarge now to try and set that as the standard he wants to achieve every week.

Well done Sarge.
