Europe War in Ukraine - Thread 4 - thread rules updated

Remove this Banner Ad

Hey all,

Seeing as multiple people seem to have forgotten, abuse is against the rules of BF. Continuous, page long attacks directed at a single poster in this thread will result in threadbans for a week from this point; doing so again once you have returned will make the bans permanent and will be escalated to infractions.

This thread still has misinformation rules, and occasionally you will be asked to demonstrate a claim you have made by moderation. If you cannot, you will be offered the opportunity to amend the post to reflect that it's opinion, to remove the post, or you will be threadbanned and infracted for sharing misinformation.

Addendum: from this point, use of any variant of the word 'orc' to describe combatants, politicians or russians in general will be deleted and the poster will receive a warning. If the behaviour continues, it will be escalated. Consider this fair warning.

Finally: If I see the word Nazi or Hitler being flung around, there had better have a good faith basis as to how it's applicable to the Russian invasion - as in, video/photographic evidence of POW camps designed to remove another ethnic group - or to the current Ukrainian army. If this does not occur, you will be threadbanned for posting off topic

This is a sensitive area, and I understand that this makes for fairly incensed conversation sometimes. This does not mean the rules do not apply, whether to a poster positing a Pro-Ukraine stance or a poster positing an alternative view.

Behave, people.

Here I was thinking that the Molotov-Ribbentrop was an agreement between the Germans and Soviets that stated non-aggression towards the other and the secret splitting of the countries that lay between them.

The amount of propaganda that you are spewing here is mind-blowingly absurd.

And the real danger is that there are people out there stupid enough to believe it.
This is the narrative you've been fed, Stalin was as bad as Hitler. It's categorically false and was pumped all throughout the cold war, there is nothing more our Capitalist oligarchs feared more than communism/socialism.

A bunch of countries signed non aggresion pacts with Hitler in a bid to buy time. Hitler invaded Poland a week after signing this, the Soviets were left scrambling and moved haphazardly to claim some bits that had been Russian empire less than two decades before. Imperisalist yes, As bad as lebensraum, no

Of course this obviously fell apart a year later with barbarossa which everyone knew would happen eventually

The only one being fed narratives is you.

There was no haphazard movements. They knew exactly what was happening.
Stalin's biggest error was thinking that Hitler was never going to attack.
And Stalin was as bad. His bad was just different in the eyes of some. It makes it more palatable.

And just so you understand. The Cold War illustrates how bad 'Super Powers' can be. Neither side was innocent. Both guilty of heinous acts.

Another drone attack on a Russian oil facility.

The camera person did a great job targeting in on the drone flying in and hitting the target, the air defence not so much….

Interesting statement from Zelensky considering how much Ukraine seemed to have complained of being short of weapons in recent times.

The Warzones situation report discusses the recent drone attacks of Russian oil infrastructure, the Russian attack up north and other things - many of those other things are the result of spineless Germans.

I don't think so

Pact is signed, germany invades a week later. Russia takes 15 days to react, minimal casualties as they get together a force. Half the Polish force thought they were doing an advance against the Germans, screams chaos to me

Many drone attacks on RF infrastructure, Ukraine have ramped this up a lot recently. Tuapse, Novorossiysk, both affected.

RF says all were shot down but leaked videos show different.

There's been another attack on Sevastopol port and again the claims conflict - Ukraine claim they damaged a ship. No proof yet.

Fighting still full on just over the border into Kharkiv Oblast at two main aspects but it seems not much change to territory for a long time.

Ocherytne same, very little movemement for a long time.

Robotyne was again accessed by RF temporarily and then given up. This has happened 3 or 4 times over the months. Some speculation that this is isn't really happening but instead milbloggers just keep changing their mind over how to assess the situation and changing their maps back and forth.

Chasiv Yar has been probably hotter than Kharkiv region. RF attacks along a side road with intention to access Chasiv Yar from a different aspect. They've also attempted to storm the eastern end front on, seems still minimal changes.

Spots RF have advanced:
"Bugruvatka" (between Starytsya & Kreydova Hora in the western vector of the Kharkiv attack - seems to be evening a line after Starytsya was occupied already a week ago).
A place called "Berestove" but I can't see where (there's many towns by this name). I am thinking most likely its a town between Svatove and Kupyansk (have now confirmed this is the place).
"Novomakhailivka" - south of Mariinka. This one is just a paddock.
"Netailove" - into Ukraine from near to Donetsk city. Doesn't get mentioned much but over the last 3 weeks, but it's a bigger advance than anywhere else other than Kharkiv region, maybe bigger even than that. Not a big place but the entire little town has gone from about 10% occupied to about 95% occupied.

The biggest yet on the fascist occupiers.

I hope so, they really need to regain momentum. At this time I'm not seeing other reports nor details. I hope it turns out to be a significant strike.

Added - it's confirmed they did bag at least a pair of Mig 31 on the attack on Belbek air base.
Being the fastest combat jet in the world does you no good on the ground.
These are important aircraft to destroy because they launch the Kinzhal missile. Little picture below shows one. I have seen somewhere the numbers of MIG 31 adapted to fire the Kinzhal was small, perhaps only 10 to 12.

Seen on a few channels now, still want verification.
"The Ukrainian Armed Forces Navy claims that the Project 266-M minesweeper of the Russian Black Sea Fleet “Kovrovets” was destroyed tonight." - [K1 TG channel]

New claims arise that a ship was hit, but not the Kovrovets. The hunt is on to find out which ship it was.
One source: "Project 22800 MRK "Cyclone" was previously hit... not Kovrovets..." [Supernova+ TG]

Another:
"It is reported that the MRK Zircon was downed this night in Sevastopol as a result of a missile strike.
Information needs verification. Zircon is a new vessel launched last year in Kerch. Probably, this small missile ship can be the carrier of the Zyklon hypersonic missile." [Denys Davydov TG]

Do note that the first source names the ship "Cyclone" which translates from "Zyklon", and this is the term used for the type of missile carried by the second suggestion. I can't find a reference to the missile, but Wikipedia does say there is a ship named the Cyclone. [On July 12, 2023, the Cyclone MRK (serial number 801) was accepted into the Black Sea Fleet [24] , and went on combat duty on August 22, 2023]

A more wordy update from [K1] channel:
"Probably, in Crimea it was not the sea minesweeper “Kovrovets” that was hit, but the MRK “Cyclone”.

It is reported that tonight, May 19, 2024, a missile attack was carried out on a small missile ship of Project 22800 “Cyclone” in the port of Sevastopol.

The strike was carried out by two ATACMS ballistic missiles. As a result of the strike, 6 servicemen of the Russian Black Sea Fleet were killed and 11 more were injured. The ship was sunk.

The Project 22800 Cyclone MRK was adopted by the Russian Navy in July 2023. The ship can be armed with 8 Caliber missiles at once. The cost of the vessel is about 100 million dollars (at the time of construction - about 6-7 billion rubles)."

And already it's been suggested that Ukraine performed a hit on Raisi's helicopter. Zelenskyy does often get close to the action!

"The Internet is discussing a photo of an Iranian special forces soldier who looks like Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.

The Iranian military is involved in the search for the helicopter. A photo of him was published by the Iranian agency Mehr. The Iranian President's plane crashed today.

We are waiting for a new conspiracy theory from propagandists that it was the Ukrainians who shot down or blew up the Iranian President’s helicopter."

I'm sure if it was a bird strike that brought the chopper down we will hear they were genetically engineered NATO biolab birds that are programmed to attack Russia and/or its allies.

(personal thoughts & guesses) Ukraine's drone strikes have increased so dramatically recently, I am leaning towards guessing that the re-emergence of western resourcing (combat artillery ammunition) has freed up a larger proportion of the Ukrainian-made drone fleet to again be used predominantly to pursue "droneripe" targets. Previously much of this drone fleet was being rejigged to essentially "be" artillery to oppose enemy artillery/advances on the frontline. It's very encouraging.

Targets have included Novorossiysk, Tuapse, Krasnodar, Slavyansk-on-Kuban, Vyborg (near StP) and more. These seem to be the domain of drone strikes. The long-range missiles are in effect against targets in Crimea, Donetsk, sea threats and Kursk/Sumy border, and the frontline battles are finally being fought with combat artillery again, due to newly received ammunition. (all my own surmisings)

Man, who would have thought that Zelensky would become the most powerful person on the plant taking out political rivals at will.

Now if only he could organise another crash involving another president of a certain country…

This one was built just in July 2023. Probably still under warranty.

Before & after sat images of the jet fuel storage at Belbek airfield (Crimea) which Ukraine popped gave a little rattle the other day:

More rotten luck faced by the Russians with debris after they shot down all enemy drones and missiles!

Western companies and banks want to continue operating in Russia, this is what you get. Sure investors will be over the moon.
