An interesting inference came out on channel 7 or 10 last night when discussing Bunji's suspension. It was pointed out that Mackenzie was the same umpire who gave him zero votes last year in one of the last games where he was adjudged best-a-field by not only the media but opposition coaches. That omission cost him the Brownlow. Could it be deliberate. Do things like that happen in football?

I have no problem with McLeod getting 1 match, in my opinion he deserved a match for what he did, I do however have a problem with the inconsistencies however and other charging related incidents which players are either cleared or not even asked to "please explain".

As for McKenzie last year, apparantley he did the Kangaroos match last year and the final game against Fremantle, well the Freo game we were flogged and I never expected McLeod to poll a vote in that match, or the 1 vote at best, Bell and Fletcher were clearly the 2 best players in that match and Brownlow votes showed what I expected after that match, the Kangaroos match was one where Macca starred and not polling a vote that night was a bit of a surprise but McKenzie is only 1 of 3 umpires who as far as I know confur with each other immediately after each match and discuss votes so it would not have been only his decision that McLeod did not poll votes in those matches.

Then again McLeod polled 3 votes in the first showdown last year when he starred in the first half only, I expected him to get the 1 vote in that match and not the 3 he recieved.

McCleod would have been reported regardless of the umpire concerned.

If there is one thing the umpires don't like, its Lloyd getting a bit of physical contact ;)

Youve got to be kidding me!!!!

Mcleod didnt get a vote in the last game because Fremantle won easily.

The suspension was fair.

The way the bloody media is carrying on about all this youd think he's just gone and quit Football. ITS JUST A BLOODY SUSPENSION FOR CHRIST SAKE!!!!!!!

I agree with everything you say

forget about it Crows fans and lets get on with the game

I agree with sapaul - It's more the inconsistency of reporting/tribunal which annoys me. The AFL need to overhaul the whole system & reconsider its whole purpose - ie. take out incidents which tarnish the image of the game (eg. striking, off-the ball incidents - such as the Plugger mugging of Wakelin, Fat Red on Stinger which should of at least been looked into). But players over the last few seasons have been getting games for incidents around the ball, which are often difficult to avoid - ie. some contact in the game is inevitable.

Interesting on Talking Football last night with Buckley stating that Wanganeen went the man first before the ball (charging euphemism .

He couldnt see the difference either.

Theres a conspiracy?

And by the way Macca, I agree the suspension was fair.
Its the inconsistency that pisses people off:mad:

McLeod was unlucky in the sense that he made a bad judgment call. I don't think anyone has even hinted at malice.
He is too good a player for that anyway.
Wanganeens case was different. At the very worst it was borderline.
Protecting a player after he has taken a mark is something that
is enforced nowadays. In particular from the front. If not we will go back to not too many years ago.
Solid hits when a player is near the ball is still allowed, although after the Nick Stevens 50m penalty in the Wizard cup final you do begin to wander.
