Playing a team that cops a absolute pasting in the media during the week. First St Kilda for there lack of speed and pressure, selfishness and softness, now the Pies who will be picked apart and questioned all week.

Why aren't we copping a pasting in the media? Cos our expectations were low to begin with?

Collingwood aren't as great as the media makes them out to be, and a 2-3 record to begin the year is testiment to that.

Yep it happens every week. There seems to be a conspiracy going on against the Essendon Footy Club. I know no one rates us, but geez dont make it so obvious

Going in as the underdog is the best way to go into an ANZAC day match. There's often an upset. They are always close matches and can inspire heroics, sometimes by those you wouldn't expect. True, the Pies will be keen to atone, but they've also been playing pretty ordinary football. I give us a pretty good chance, even without McVeigh and other important players missing.

Cometh the hour....

This game will be massive, not only because its ANZAC day but because both sides really need to win for the good of their season. We are on a two game losing streak and you guys aren't fairing all that well yourselves. It will be a close game and it should be exciting to watch. I for one am hoping the media have a massive go at us this week, we bloody deserve it after the pitiful pathetic displays of the last 2 weeks.

Good Luck, hopefully no injuries and a very enjoyable game. :thumbsu:

Having half our team out injured probably gives us a bit of leniency.

I'm not really sure why we are underdogs. We have beaten two of the teams(Blues and Kangas) that have beaten Collingwood.

This is a really important game for us. If we win we will be 3-3, and Collingwood will be 2-4, with their season in the shits.

I hope we win but the odds are against us. Who knows its ANZAC day lets just hope the boys play with more fight like the ANZACS did all those years ago...

Yeah cos everyone knew you were shit anyway. No great surprises there!

Might have something to do with the form of Lloyd and the loss of Lucas and McVeigh.

You'll get over it, teams lift for us every week even without the media. Laidley said after the match how he had been stressing to the players for the 48 hours prior that "this is THE game".

We're both missing our best midfielder, but you're missing a few others including Lucas, so we have a slight advantage. You guys are in better form though, and I'm suprised you're not favourites. The only reason we are is because of 2007.

Should be a ripper, I'm sure it will be close.

Just wanted to say good luck to you guys for the game before the school holiday crowd got in but I see Muhammad Ali beat me to it.
I hope it is a ripper.

Lets call a spade a spade, Collingwood are a team that has been playing above itself for a while. Rocca, B Johnson, O'Bree, Fraser, Brodie Holland, Wakelin and co, they are players that would struggle to get a game anywhere else and are coming to the end of there tether. Sure they have some smart kids in Thomas, Pendlebury, Swan and Heath Shaw, but so do we Houli, Stanton, Davey (not really a kid) and Reimers. On paper we match up ok against them and I think the bookies have it wrong. If we can put 4 quarters together, continue put faith in the kids, we will give it a real shake

Nah, we're just playing below ourselves now. No desire, no confidence... therefore skills and intensity are way down. Which is why we've lost two games after being 3-4 goals up in the last quarter.
