What about a Christmas Day Test?

Highly doubt they’d get nearly the same crowds.

The comparisons to American sports is really dumb too. They are far more passionate about those games than we are about the cricket. In the case of the NBA they play in much smaller stadiums with marquee teams playing, so of course they’re going to sell games out.

No.

Players deserve to spend XMas with their family. It is one day where there isn't cricket, you will live.
Ahhh that sucks that there isn't 364 other days in the year that they could organise to spend the day with them then.

It’s one day who cares if there’s no cricket on jeez. As it is in Sydney we’ve got screwed moving the game, Melbourne can live too.

Really dumb? You’ve surveyed every cricket fan in Australia have you? Bravo

It’s a dumb comparison to US sports. Why would I need to survey anyone?

They are different sports in a different country.
It's interesting that a country like the US which is notably more religious that us has no worries with sport on a holy day yet for years if it was even ventured that footy on Good Friday might be fun various cult leaders totally wet their panties.

US is more religious but I feel like Christmas is a bigger deal to Aussies. The only cricket that people will be interested in on Christmas Day is in the backyard.

Starting the Melbourne Test on any day other than Boxing Day would be rather silly.

The world record 10th wicket partnership of 307, between Alan Kippax and Hal Hooker, was scored mainly on christmas day 1928.

Players these dayscare too cossetted.

On that occasion he played the 2nd Test from 14th to 20th in Sydney. Then travelled to Melbourne to play for NSW vs Vic from 22nd to 27th. Then played the 3rd Test from 29th to 5th Jan.

That's a lot of cricket.

And scored his maiden test hundred in that third test. As it happened, so did Bradman.

Yes Thanksgiving is a better equivalent to our Xmas for the yanks - and they still play 3 NFL games on it!!!

Yeah, but again, their sports culture is different. Cricket is not something that Australians would disrupt their family Christmas plans to accommodate.
