Marnus doesn't know where his off stump is at the moment so I think his best bet for now is to go out there and play some shots.

I'm a big Marnus fan but he looks like his confidence is around -4/10.
Needs runs desperately, as does Carey to stave off the Inglis form. Carey the better keeper by a bit, but his batting is nowhere near the level of JI at this point.

They’re 6-3-2 under Southee so not panic stations yet, he just doesn’t have any scalps that’s all

Williamson didn't want to be captain anymore.

It's not ideal having Southee as captain when his form is dropping off but we don't have that many other better options at the moment..

We could go back to Latham but his form isn't great either or go with someone like Mitchell who hasn't had any real captaincy experience.

On ESPN's 'Around The Wicket', Ross Taylor said Tim Southee is the first fast bowler to play 100 international matches in all 3 formats. Him and Kane Williamson are going to have to perform well in their 100th test if New Zealand are to salvage a drawn series.

Captain Obvious there, of course we need Williamson and Southee to perform well to win this test and draw the series.

At least we already have a moral victory sewn up though with all our injuries, Conway out again along with Jamieson and now O'Rourke.

If we somehow manage to pull off an actual win against the odds it will be a win for the ages.

No Boult, no Jamieson, Wagner should probably be there but he IS ancient so I can see why he was pushed out, Ferguson is a white ball specialist, who else do you propose they pick? o’Rourke has been drafted in and is now injured.
Hell, it’s taken up until now for Matt Henry to be good enough to deserve his spot
