A forward line boasting the games Susperstar CHF Moore killing it and wait for it.....the Daicos brothers best crumbling smalls in the comp.
Hopefully we have flag no:16 in the trophy cabinet by then.

A decent bar at The Holden Centre would be good, as well as a yearly function for Legends members where they could have a drink or two and listen to an address from the coach and players. They could call it the Legends Cocktail party, I hear Crown have a pretty good venue.

I think we will wear a black & white jumper.
The entire Football world will hate us.
Everyone will winge about our soft draw & lack of interstate travel.
There will be a scandal or two.
Our supporters will want to sack the Coach, President, CEO & Coffee lady.
Ed will call for a thorough review of the Football Department in 2022.
We will be linked to every Free Agent & Trade possibility.
We will hate Carlton.

Artist in residence

The idea is to appoint an 'artist in residence' to work at the club for a season. A new artist would be appointed each year - they would be selected from a bunch of applicants by a suitable panel who have an opinion about this stuff.

We kind of had something like this back in 2009 with Peter Ryan embedded in the club to write the book 'Side By Side' (prose is a form of art).

We've also done something like this with commissioning Jamie Cooper to do paintings for the club, such as the 'Forever Collingwood' painting ...

How would this be different?

Jamie Cooper does a awesome job, but he paints for other clubs too (his style is not uniquely Collingwood) and I think it'd be good to mix it up and have a different artist every year to bring in a bit of variety. And potentially using different media each year.

It'd be a fantastic gig for an artist - getting a stable income and being able to roam around a footy club and capture the times.

They wouldn't necessarily be the sole contributer either - they could be a curator for other artists to contribute, or even to manage community involvement.

Imagine Collingwood's artist in residence taking a bunch of folks down to a VFL game to run a workshop on how to take footy photos with your DSLR?

Or setting up a bunch of easels on the boundary of the VFL and having a crack at painting in watercolour?

Or running an Instagram photo competition for the fans?

Or running a colouring-in competition for the kids?

How to fund this? It is the kind of thing that can attract sponsorship. And memorabilia sales.

Consider this cheap piece of cardboard with a picture on it that once came free in a packet of chewing gum ...

... That simple pic warms the cockles of the heart of any Collingwood supporter over age 40. Those pangs of sentimentality are priceless. The artist in residence would help contribute to the time capsule of sentimental moments.

Collingwood Suit

Another merchandising idea would be to create a business suit. It would be unbranded on the outside - just classic black / charcoal /whatever, or maybe do. go the black and white thing and make it pinstripes?

The inside lining would be emblazoned with the club emblem. Maybe the lining also includes the team list for that year.

There are probably many adults out there who are happy to support and be associated with the club, but they simply don't have much occasion to wear any of the clothing the club currently produces. People like Ed for example.

And Ed has got pretty good taste in suits (he's a Hugo Boss man from memory?). Put Ed on Quality Control to ensure they're decent.

It doesn't need to be a crazy expensive suit, but it shouldn't be schoolboy formal standard either.

IIRC the club is sponsored by Flair suits? Yeah, they're a fair way from Hugo Boss - but they should still be able to manage something appropriate. After all, they're going to be branded "Collingwood" rather the name of the suit company.

Could even be a bespoke suit. Organise an annual fitting day at the Holden Centre each pre-season. Turn it into a networking event. Give a suit to the players for them to wear at formal occasions - and for them to keep for posterity (the players would get their jumper number emblazoned in the lining).

Collector T-Shirts

Collingwood could open up a design competition for a T-Shirt design. The best design could be voted on by the players, so that they're being seen to have some involvement.

Make it a weekly thing - a different T-Shirt design could be offered for sale at the game every week.

It could become a bit of a collectors thing.

It could be run a bit like The Big Issue - the homeless / battlers / people struggling would be given permission to sell the T-Shirts at the ground. Around $2 goes to the designer of the T-Shirt. $5 - $10 goes towards the production of the T-Shirt. The seller gets around $5 -$10

The seller wins - they get given access to a commodity to make money legally and morally
The purchaser wins - they get a momento and the opportunity to do something good
The club wins - toughens their community credentials and softens their greedy capitalist image.
The designer wins - their design gets out there, they get a plum gig of design access to a high profile brand.

Consider this example: https://www.threadless.com/sesamestreet/

The T-Shirt company Threadless had a T-Shirt design competition using the Sesame Street theme. The folks who control the Sesame Street brand (Children's Television Workshop (CTW) IIRC) got some agreement they were happy with that allowed anybody to design a T-Shirt using the Sesame Street theme through the Threadless portal. And not only that, but the designer would actually make money it! (A commission from Threadless selling T-Shirts with their design). CTW are happy - it creates positive and creative exposure of their brand in a 'safe' way (Threadless being a moderated platform) and they likely made money out of it. Threadless are happy because they sell more T-Shirts and leverage off a solid brand and they made money out of it. Freelance designers were happy because they got legal access to a pop culture brand and they made money out of it. Everybody is a winner!

I like this thread it opens ones mind to what can be.
. We need to utilise the Holden centre more , we need to get a bit more tribal , tours with past players, trivia nights think Rock Wiz but Pies Wiz, netball home games, interstate games,
.put shade sails in on the AAMI park side ( black and white of course , need shade desperately )
. Make our own merchandise , expand our community program to include jobs
.regional supporter hubs , permanent head quarters for local supporters including refuge centres
Seems we're gone a bit corporate and I think our centre ends to come back to the people ,bit cold atm

Its taken me 2 pages to work out this thread is just a piss take

Around 5 years ago when it was announced that we'd set up a netball court on the spurn floor, that might has seemed like a pisstake ...

... and tonight we have a netball team representing Collingwood, playing their first finals game. Perhaps not too many people on this footy forum care about that, but that game will get a good turnout and interest.

Between black and white there are shades of grey.

Yeah the Holden Centre is nothing like it promised to be. I haven't been back in a while but even when it was decent, it didn't feel like the pre footy atmosphere that you wanted to go to. Ideally you'd want a modern pub type joint with plenty of seating, reasonable priced bar food and a strict policy of no yobbo behaviour. That sounds great but the club seems too hamstrung with money to really supply anything like that and make Matchday a full day experience.

But it's just fluff anyway, what we really want is a ruthless club obsessed with winning AFL, WFL, VFL and Netty.

Probably won't happen but I would like a boutique Vic Park for interstate home games to be played.

Most likely won't happen with council and all that..

I can see our very own 2022 Collingwood NRL team, Soccer team and NBL team franchise too.

Of course the men's AFL team may be languishing but hey look at all these other things we can do.
