What is the most unbreakable record in the AFL?

Beating the Eagles by 135 points in Western Australia - Subiaco

2008 Geelong 28 15 183 West Coast 5 18 48

That record will stay for the next 100 years

I actually see that record getting broken within the next ten years. The speed of the game is far superior to what it was in 1992, it only takes an innovative coach to launch an all-out attack against a weak opponent and the record will go. We should've gone close last year against GWS when we kicked 28.25(193). Kick straight (say 38.15(243)) and the record is ours. There were some horrific missed shots that day.

I was at that game; if Buddy had stayed on Hawks easily would have topped 240

No.

Geelong come close against Melbourne in 2011 with a 186 point win.

Also about that Fitzroy v Melbourne match in 79 can anyone find and post the quarter by quarter scores
And the Fitzroy goal scores? I think Fitzroy still has the biggest last quarter score from that match.

Fitzroy kicked 10.5 in that match in the last quarter, which doesn't rank in the top 15, the record is 17.4

0.1 for the saints as the lowest score is a funny one - it can be matched but not broken

Given you actually have to score a point for it to be consider a score

I don't how you could word it if a team does finish a game 0.0.0 - suggestions welcome!

What's the longest streak a club has gone without a player receiving a brownlow medal?

Also the Simon Black thing (300 games/B&F/Brownlow/Norm Smith/Flag etc.) - needs a name like EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony)

Personally I'd call it the lowest score. :p

I can't see anyone breaking Lockett's 1360 goals in a career. There was a time when kicking 90+ goals was needed for the Coleman. These days 65 goals would give you a fair chance. The game has just simply changed since then.

And chances are it will change again.

And the game may very well change again. Buddy kicked 113 only five years ago. Who's to say that Tom Boyd or Jeremy Cameron won't come along and dominate the game in a similar manner in which Lockett did? Cameron has one thing massively in his favour in that he's an accurate kick at goal (something that has been an obstacle for the majority of the full-forwards over the past ten years).

In reality, Lockett should have kicked far more than 1360 goals. He played in a ridiculous 18 seasons, missing something like 140 games over that period. He was plagued by injuries and suspension throughout his career and should've been closer to 2000 goals if he'd had better luck/been more disciplined. He was also very unlucky not to break Hudson's 150 goal mark. In 1991 he kicked 127 from 17 games at a much higher average than Hudson in 1971. In 1989 he kicked 75 goals in his first ten games, then got injured. The record would've gone mighty close if he'd played those years out.

Highest score in a last quarter was South Melbourne in 1919 - were up 12.11 (83) to 2.6 (18) at 3/4 time and won 29.15 (189) to 2.6 (18).
Half of the St.Kilda players left the game early in protest against the bad umpiring (Matthew Nicholls must've had the gig that day). That record should be wiped imo.

Id like to also point out the fact that Dunstall should have also kicked a lot more goals if he started playing AFL as a 17-18 yr old which most players do (Dunstall played from Debut:20y 237d Last:34y 15d, whereas Lockett played Debut:17y 39d Last:36y 99d, a full 4 more seasons then Dunstall), Who knows how much Dunstall would of kicked in 4 seasons, could of been anywhere max up to 400 (prob woulda kicked 200 or so) and also the fact that he passed off to teammates a lot which also cost him quite a few goals im guessing and also the fact he kicked jack squat in his last 2 seasons cos of injury, so it was like he only played 12.5 and a half seasons in his career (he missed a bunch of games in several seasons so i put the games together hehe)...

Plus also he got the closest to breaking the record of goals per game with 17 (which im sure everybody knows), he got 4 behinds too, so he had a fairly small chance to do it, i didnt watch the game so i dunno if he missed some easy shots at goal or whatever...

Also the 150 in a season, Dunstall got the closest, and if he had a bit of luck (as in the hawks winning their match in the final) which would of given him chance in the next week of the finals to try kick 6 as he was on 145 when hawks got knocked out of the finals...

So yeah remembering all that, damn Dunstall got close to breaking several AFL records just to come a bit short.. what a gun..his reputation could of been knocked up a knotch or two if he broke 1-2 of those records (if he kicked the most of all time, there would be an argument he was the best of FF ever), so as highly regarded as Dunstall is, if he broke one of those unbreakable records, he woulda stamped his name in history n glory, but yeh he didnt break any so maybe those records are really 'unbreakable'

This. Requires 100 goals a year for 13 years. Won't happen again in our lifetimes and it is a major record.

Leigh Matthews.....11 Goals in 1 Game as a rover: 1973 Vs Essendon! Also in 1981 Vs Melbourne...Though he played mainly in the forward pocket in that game!

Like to See Old KB Do THAT!...Not to Mention Gary Ablett Junior......Yeah.....Nah!!!

Nearly as good as Gary Ablett senior kicking 14 goals off the wing against Richmond back in 1989.

If Franklin is allowed to stay forward to kick bags of goals and he plays for the Swans for the 9 years he signed for, if he kicked 90 a year for the rest of his career he could come close hehe.. Of course he wont but i reckon he will, if hes lucky, might get to the 1000 goal mark.. hes like what 580 goals, so he would need to kick 420 in 9 years..which would make him one of the best forwards of all time...

Yeh just realised that what i said has nothing to do with the OP at all, sorry just typed out what i was thinking without thinking about it hehe.. silly me i know but on topic, agreed no one will do it (unless Franklin gets his 2008 form back for the next 6 of so years hehe, which wont happen), so im sure its safe to say Locketts career goals will never be broken.. never say never but yeh maybe in 50 yrs time, who knows (doubt it tho).

1970.

146 goals - Hudson.
143 goals - McKenna.
115 goals - Jezza.

Doubt we'll ever see 3 separate players kick over 100 goals in a season.
