What is the most unbreakable record in the AFL?

Most consecutive games lost - 51 (University)

Lowest score ever - 1 point (St Kilda 1899)

Pretty hard to see someone breaking Collingwood's 4 flags in a row either.
Didn't Melbourne win 4 in a row in the 50's? Or at least won 4 in the 50's, or played in 4? Or played in 4 games and won?

Who holds the record for most brothers playing together at the same club in the era after the draft was established?

I know North have had Brent and Shane Harvey, Brady and Jade Rawlings, and also Cameron and Luke Delaney. Anyone else know of any?

Freo have had four:

Jay and Matthew Burton
Dan and Shane Parker
Troy and Justin Longmuir
Matt and Josh Carr

Coleman
-100 goals in his 1st season
-12 in his 1st game
-540 goals in 98 games / easily the 1st best 98 games by a player.

Dick Lee - 8 x Leading goal scorer in competition will be hard to beat.
Although Coleman probably would have had him if his career wasn't cut short.
The next best is Gordon Coventry on 6 wins, and for some perspective Plugger has just 4.
Dick's record has endured since 1919.

Also, checked out the Jakovich thing.

Kicked his 100th career goal in just his 21st game. He kicked his 50th in just 9 games of AFL.

If a player did anything close to that now, could you imagine the meltdown on this forum?

NOTE: Jesse Hogan to do it in 2014.
Coleman kicked 100 in his debut season playing 21 games, so Jakovich can't claim that record.

As for average after 50 games, both Coleman & Hudson have Jakovich covered (didn't bother looking up anyone else)

Thats interesting, Jakovich's and Coleman's wiki pages need to be updated then.

I don't know. Ablett has that quiet stoicism about him. I know basketball was his favourite sport growing up, but jeez he has worked his arse off to get to the top of the game in AFL - one of those rare superstars who actually started out a bit, well, average. He probably appreciates his position as the premier player in the comp a lot more than say Chris Judd ever did (who almost treated it like a nuisance).

And with his build and lack of serious injuries, I could see him being a good player for 5 more years quite easily.

3 number one draft picks playing in a drawn grand final (Gardiner, Riewoldt & Goddard) in 2010 but failing to win the following week.

(Only 3 drawn GF in 117 yrs) and few teams have 3 number one draft picks. GWS should end up with 4, Scully, Patton, Whitfield and presumably Boyd) but with so much talent to draw and then lose.....

Carlton also have 3 (Murphy, Gibbs, Kreuzer) but haven't even made it to GF.

Didn't Melbourne win 4 in a row in the 50's? Or at least won 4 in the 50's, or played in 4? Or played in 4 games and won?

Only team to win 4 flags in a row is Coll 27 - 30.

In that period they had 3 separate players win a Brownlow and another win all 4 Goalkicking awards.

Yeah Melbourne would have won 6 straight from 55-60 but Collingwood beat us in the GF in 1958 to stop us from breaking the 'four in a row' record (under much tougher rules than Collingwood faced when they won four straight).

Kudos to the pies though, I highly doubt anyone is coming close to winning four straight again.

Anyone think its possible to beat Ron Barrassi's record of being player or coach in ten seperate premierships?

Who holds the record for most brothers playing together at the same club in the era after the draft was established?

I know North have had Brent and Shane Harvey, Brady and Jade Rawlings, and also Cameron and Luke Delaney. Anyone else know of any?

Geelong have had a few too:

Gary and Nathan Ablett
Spiro and Tony Malakellis
Damian and Tim Bourke
Jason and Cameron Mooney
Travis and Adam Varcoe (don't know if Adam counts, since he was on our rookie list. I'm sure they played a practice match together though)

Gordon Coventry, First player to kick 100 goals in a season. Now that will never be broken. ;)

The year he did that his brother became the first and only captain in the game's history to win a Brownlow and captain a premiership in the same year. For good measure he was voted as BOG (equivalent to a Norm Smith) in that year's GF.

Two records the Saints hold that are unlikely to go are the youngest debutant and oldest retiree.

Claude Clough was only 15 years, 209 days when he played his first game in 1900, and Vic Cumberland was a venerable 43 years old and 48 days on his retirement some 20 years later.

Given the current set up (TAC Cup, etc) and the pace of the game, I doubt anyone would start in the AFL at 15, or still be kicking around at 43!
