For me it was a passage of play when we were playing the Eagles at Subi in the wet.

Monfries threw himself into a couple of packs with amazing courage but i will highlight one instance in particular. The ball was punched towards our centre half forward line from the centre, there were several players running with the flight of the ball and several coming from the opposite direction. The surface was drenched, players didnt have great control of their footing, it looked a recipe for someone getting really hurt.

Monfries, a skinny 17 year old dived into the pack for the ball much harder than anyone else I could barely watch, it seemed that reckless and then it appeared as though he got kneed straight in the head from someone sliding in from the opposite direction.

His body went limp - i have seen this body reaction from others in the past and i know there is no getting up for them. I felt sick for Gus and dissapointed that a young gun looked like he'd been k'od after starting so brilliantly in such a high intensity game. Amid the frenzy, play went on and the ball moved about 30 metres from that incident. There were players going for the ball and then all of a sudden Monfries was in the thick of the action again. I remember laughing like a madman, it was inspirational. Pure captaincy material.

Also JJ in the same game got his cheekbone smashed, barely flinched and played out the whole game. You see the tough action heros in movies, JJ seems like a real life version to me. His head looks like it is made out of steel it doesnt look like a normal head. He doesnt look like the sort to ever whinge or complain. After the game he looked like a gladiator that had been defeated with the rain pooring down on him, but it wasnt he that was the reason for the defeat.

Anyway that game really stood out to me as the Eagles are a very good team in the wet at Subi. We really challenged them that night despite being ravaged by injury and bad luck (Stants hitting the post near the end of the game). I felt we really did have a future. What was your highlight/s?

Lovey's goals on the run. Remember against Freo when he recieved the ball 40-50m out with his back to goal, did a 180 degree turn, turning his opponent inside out, run 30 metres flat out towards goal before finishing from a tough angle, beautiful to watch.

The St. Kilda game was the game I went home after feeling the happiest about, just one of those good nights.

yep, the St.kilda and Geelong games. beating apparently the 'best' victorian teams, with our young players playing well was a highlight for me. Especially the Saints game, as it was lloydys 200th.

Brent Stantons second half of the year was another one

Definitely the wins over St Kilda and Geelong. We were well beaten by both sides last year and they were cocky c***s leading into those games this year and we f***en put them in their place, our midfield exposed both of their midifields for pace.

Was great to watch.

Pantsing collingwood and carlton with a reserves side in also has to rate a mention.

Winning more last quaters than we lost in the second half of the season particularly with a very young side was aslo a highlight given the amount of times we were ran over the top of in the first half of the season.

St. Kilda game for me as well. Specially one of the goals that started our comeback. Cupido in probably his only highlight for the year streams through the pack, dishes off a look away handpass to Lovett, who blazes into the 50 and finishes with his trademark style.

Lovetts goal against Brisbane was a gem in the first 1/4. I remember a Brisbane Lions supporter just gob-smacked at how he did it.

Beating Geelong, Saints and Pies were good. I missed the Carlscum game cause my son was sick - though I have forgiven him for that ;)

The best thing I think for the season has been the off-season clean out coupled with the promising signs in the games post Adelaide.

The emergence of Brent Stanton as an elite onballer.
Lovett and Laycock on Anzac Day.
Monfries giving us a glimpse of what is to come.
And hopefully..................
Swallow, Douglas, Warnock and Wall at draft day!

Laycock was brilliant in the first half of that ANZAC game, looked like a superstar.
Lets hope he can be fit and show that stuff consistantly.

FOJ1 - Douglas sounds like a player, but i think he will probably be gone by our second pick unfortunately.

Mcveigh's goal after the half time siren when pavlich gave away 50 and he belted out a torp and it bounced infront of the pack at the goal square, bounced over their heads and in for 6 points.

lovett on anzac day pure brilliane the hird goal at half time of that game. n every essendon supporters favourite beating collingwood twice in a season haha

Beating Carlton by shedloads.
Beating Collingwood twice.
Gus putting his body on the line in the game against WCE.

But in first...

Super 2nd half of the season
3rd in B&F.
Runs himself into the ground.

Arise Sir Brent!

Was a funny year this one, not making the finals.

My highlight this year was the win over the Saints. The saints weren't running hot at that stage, but, to see our boys run over the top of them was great! :D

Second favourite moment was the smashing we handed to Collingwood (well up until the 3rd quarter anyway!) in the second encounter. Went to the game with my gf (unfortunately an avid pie :( ), and she stormed off at the end of the 3rd quarter in a huff! Perfect timing really, the last quarter was ********e for us.

Despite the fact we didn't win, the match at Subi made me proud to be a Bombers fan. Took it right up to them & the kids were in the thick of it.

Agree with you mate, it was an awesome performance and we could have won it, a few silly mistakes near the end by a few inexperienced players (Hunt) was the difference. The Brisbane loss was also a good performance.

However, my highlight was the emergence of Lovett, Stanton, Laycock, Bradley, Monfries, Dyson :) Mcphee is 22, Future is bright :D

I was more proud after that lose than after most wins we have.

The funny thing was the Eagles looked run of their legs before we did to me that was a revelation. I really expected us to get belted that night yet was pleasantly surprised.
