I think Matty White is gonna have a great year at port

but voted for Ben Mcevoy to help Hawthorn go back to back

I have a funny feeling you'll be right. Great forward when he's on and was picked up for next to nothing.

So great, that they lost to Port who didn't beat Carlton last year. This must be due to old man Ball playing.

How did Carlton go against Collingwood last year (once without Ball and twice without Beams)?

But I digress, do you honestly believe Carlton have the better midfield?

An interesting point would be what the best recruit would be compared to what the club gave up (salary, draft picks, players, etc...).

My top 3 for this would be
1. Paine
2. Crameri
3. McEvoy
If Sydney don't win a flag in the next 2 years Buddy will be a huge waste for them, he is huge gamble. Thus him not making the list. As for other notes I feel Savage, Gumbleton and Vince could be big winner. Just a good feeling on those ones.

Not only do they have a better midfield but with hardmen like Gibbs, Yarran and Murphy they also have easily the toughest midfield in the AFL

It's pretty ridiculous that Heath Shaw has only one vote. With the exception of last season (where he was still a really solid player) he has been in the top 2-3 backflankers in the AFL over the last 5 seasons.

Other than Buddy (who will carry the burden of ridiculously high expectations), I'd have Shaw and Betts as the two favorites to take this out. Both are proven high level AFL players in their respective positions, are not old and are injury free and have been throughout most of their respective careers.

I obviously couldn't fit everyone in so I put the more high profile recruits in. You can see all the players I had to leave out in the OP.
Cameron Wood probably has more "wtf" profile than any player in that list.

Also Paul Medhurst and to a lesser extent Lee Brown were "wtf" Malthouse selections who probably would have ranked high or won this type of poll in seasons past. There's more chance of Wood doing something decent this season than guys like Nahas or Cross imo.
