Well that is Pretty Much the Same Thing isn't it?
I think it's fairly obvious why we didn't draft him; because the risk was too high. I think what we're seeing now is that he's still not over drugs and he has a serious problem that he needs to overcome.

Looking at how things have been going with Ben Cousin,s recently I think he is in the safest place for him ATM,you just have to hope he can pull himself through this as it is proving the battle of his life, good luck to him.
Too true.
The guy was an outstanding footballer.
Ever since he was drafted,the newspapers over here were all over him. Building him up like he was invincible.
But as the old saying goes,"What Goes up,must come down".
Its just such a shame that he has gotten himself into the situation he is in now.
I feel for his family,because he is after all,a son,a brother, and now a father.
I sincerely hope Benny can pull through this and come out the other side a better man.

I was a fan of us drafting Ben Cousins. It turned out well in the end that we didn't but there's no denying he was a phenomenal football player. He went alright at the Tiges as well in what was a pretty ordinary side at the time.
Arrogant druggie who could play footy. Shows what a true mess he is that he is still on the drugs.
Oh yeah it's great to have it confirmed.......But Nice to have it Confirmed.

Personally I'd prefer that he'd resurrected his career to become a superstar again and 'one that got away', than to see a bloke going through what he is now.
Just sayin'.
We did our homework and made the right decision. Good luck to the guy but he was a waste of time for Richmond and would have been the same at Collingwood. He played some ok footy at times but not much to add to his CV and he gave them a few headaches.
He gave them a boost to their membership and attendance rates, although he was recruited when Richmond finished 9th (haha) and I'm sure they were expecting to make the finals rather than finish 15th, but he didn't really cost them much.
