With the way season ended up for us. Do you think not making the finals and getting pick 8 would have been more beneficial to the team or the valuable experience of playing finals footy for these very young guy's (including and interstate win).

Your thoughts...

Hard to say, usually a lottery after the top 5 or 6

Hard to say, getting over WC and Sydney in 2007 cost us Selwood.. but it's usually a lottery after the top 5 or 6

No it didn't. We traded our pick 14 from 2007 for Cam Wood.

We had pick 10 (Nathan Brown) in the 2006 draft after losing to the Bulldogs in the elimination final. Joel Selwood went 7 in that draft. We picked up pick 8 (Reid) plus Medhurst from Freo for Chris Tarrant. Freo got pick 8 and pick 42 (Bachar Houli) from Richmond for Polak. The Bachar Houli pick was traded to Eseendon for Dean Solomon (along with pick 47, Kyle Reimers).

Yep off my ****, missed by a year.. need another coffee

I was thinking the same sort of thing a few weeks ago but as someone said (pielebo87 i think) finals experience for younger kids is invaluable and those two games could turn out to be good experience for the youngens. We finished before StKilda so i guess that doesn't hurt our Cousins bid.

Playing finals is more important.

The "lottery" of the draft means you just never know what you're going to end up with.

"A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush"

You're conditioning the players on your list to cope with the finals intensity.

It will hurt our Cousins bid if teams like essendon, brisbane and port are after him.
He could price himself out in the hope we pick him,but what if one of those teams below us meet his salary demands, again we are F....d and we miss another key marquee player for nothing?
