I just hope the players we want are available at our picks, it's a fair bet Hine will go with someone from left field with pick 10.

Lots of reports of Scharenberg suffering from foot problems which could see him slide due to the risk in taking him early. We could end up with a #6 pick that plays about as many games as a former Pie's player now at the Blues ie. not very many.

If Scharenberg and Aish are both there at 6 do we think Hine will pick based on who is more likely to slip to 10, or who he likes more?
He's answered this type of question before, he calls out the number of whatever player is the next in his list

A foot/feet stress reaction is quite different to chronic ankle instability.

Could just be the case of growing pains? His body getting used too his bigger size?

It could be but I suspect Scharenberg's been solid for most of his life. Maybe due to an increase or change in training load?

Yep, and it's an exciting prospect too, although obviously someone else could do it first I suppose.
I'm warming to McCarthy, or even Taylor [though they are all just names and profiles to me as I don't look at the footage until after the draft].

I'm happy to wait. Hine reckons there is a real separation between the top ten and the rest. The way I read it that means this draft is already a win from Hine's perspective. Besides GWS, no other club has access to two of this year's elite players.

Pick 6: Matt Scharenberg
Pick 10: James Aish
Pick 67: Cameron Conlon
Giddy up. Either of the 1st 2 & Salem would also please me.

Saw him play in the grand final last year 2012 and he was just so smooth it was not funny. Had not problem with getting the ball and great speed down the Wing. Would love to get him.
He reminds me of Ben Cousins.

Best chance to get both would be Scharenberg at 6 and Aish at 10 with the go home factor hopefully scaring off the Lions and Dees.

Pick 6 - Bontempelli

Pick 10 - Lennon

Pick 67 - Any of Conlon/Garlett/Thorp

Make it happen pies!

Pick 6: Aish - Clearly the best mid in the draft and if he falls to 6 its absolute robbery again by us. Been a joy watching him at Norwood

Pick 10: Scharenberg - Hopefully Brisbane do the right thing and take McCarthy to help with their fwd set up and have feeling Scharenberg will slide.

pick 67: couldnt give a rats toss bag

Pick 6 - Aish/Scharenberg/Billings whoever is still there.
Pick 10 - The best user of the footy still available.
Pick 67 - Will let Hine decide this one!

I would love Aish and Scharenberg at 6 & 10, in either order but just cannot see it happening. Brisbane and Melbourne would be absolutely insane to overlook either for homesick or injury issues. Just imagine if you were a Melbourne supporter, Aish or Scharenberg are on the board and they pick..... Freeman. I would just shake my head and file it as another disaster of the basket case that those two clubs are.

I want Hine/Rendell to come out and say we chose Pick 6 and 10 because we think they will be dominant in 'position x', and not get too fancy by qualifying their picks with phrases such as "We thought we needed height through the middle" or "We think this KP player can rotate through the midfield".

For the above reasons, I'm not convinced Bont and McCarthy are necessarily a good got for us, as in keep reading such qualifications. However, Hine/Rendell and our scouts have seen infinitely more than I, so if they are confident that they can dominate their primary role at an AFL level, then I'm cool with that.

Based upon my absorption of innernet draft stuff, the dream would be the two SA guns. Given this is unlikely, a more realistic dream is one at 6 and then Salem at 10.

Later!

6. Scharenberg
10. Salem
67. Peter Daicos - it's a weak draft and he will be better (even at his age) than anyone else we could get at this pick! lol... get him in training now. ;)
