WAFL performances part 2

This is EXACTLY what happened last year, was it not Bel?

Thornton publicly bagged and looking very likely to be dropped to Souths reserves, miraculously getting called up to Freo.

Seriously. **** me. Almost enough to make me forget about the year.

Any other sport I can follow about now?

I hear watching grass grow is quite good

Good to see de Boer and Pearce progressing.

I pay little credence to the club's injury reports. I'm sure I've read that Van Berlo, O'Brien and Shepheard are all injured.

Wasn't Drum named for Perth last week too?

Yes. Perth always name every AFL player they can. Other WAFL teams don't name any of them. You can't make a judgement on what the team will be like based on the decisions of WAFL clubs. It's highly unlikely that they would have any confirmation that Drum has been released on a Thursday night.

The same thing happened with Warnock. He wasn't putting in at WAFL level so West Perth told Freo either pick him or he's playing reserves. Fremantle knew there was a fair chance that he wanted home and figured his trade value would be bugger all if he was playing WAFL reserves so he came into the Freo line up.

Atleast Warnock had ability and trade value though.

I must admit I weasn't impressed at all with Drum last week. He was jogging around half paced with no intensity at all. Worst game he's ever played imo and I can understand why the coaching staff are looking to give him a kick up the bum.

I'd still rather give him another chance over a few others who've been selected though.

Agree Esti, the clubs selection policy is a real mystery atm.

Head whilst I thought deserved a chance last week is really lucky to be playing again this week. The Rash even under consideration is insulting to Boughton.

I think most of us would be prepared to take the losses if the young'uns were played and given the experience and they showed some guts, determination and a will to win.

Perhaps Harvey is still looking over his shoulder and afraid to lose too many early in the season but geez its frustrating to see and watch.

This weekend is Final Four weekend - see if you can catch it on payTV, it is going to be worth a look...

Some good NBA on this weekend, and baseball is starting up again.

Plus the EPL is back too, and the Spanish and Eye-talian-io leagues are about to have some good games.

And you good even try following the Super 14 if you get bored (I hate that carp, but you might like it...).

Plus, if you hang around here a couple more hours, I'm sure GJeffy, Memsies and Reasonrabble will be back to provide some sporting entertainment...

That doesnt look promising.
Head to play and Drum to miss for Solly.

Can we take an axe to Harvey already, purely because of his selection screw ups.

No need for an axe. You could give him a whiteboard and a pen, though, and get him to draw up the game plan for us.

I just wouldn't mind having some idea what the idea behind the selections is, what our defensive tactics and kickins are supposed to be, and why we can't stick with a forward structure that is at least a little bit traditional.

At Freo we've had some beauties from our selectors over the years, but I can't ever remember being as perplexed, surprised and dumbfounded by a team's choice of cattle, and then the structure the cattle is put into, as I have been over the last year and a half.

Spot on! We need to give one or two more of the kids a run, at least until Mayne, Brock and Campbell are back. Don't care if we lose by 12+ goals, at least the future would be being given a try. Especially against the younger lighter bodied sides like the Dogs and Bombers.

Gilmore was named in the best on the WAFL site.

I had a last minute "something's come up" last night, so I didn't get there (kinda glad about that TBH)... so I can't give any details. But Drum never plays that well in the WAFL. It's like he needs the higher level in order to play a decent game. There are a few of our guys who are like that.

Was that "something" viagra realted IP :D

Campbell will have to play very well in the WAFL. Reserves player Arnold has kicked 15 goals in last 3 games (4,5, then 6), and is getting better every week.

Damn, stopping making sense.
