Looks like Dekka might be right, maybe Kenno should be played as the small forward, (if the endurance issue remains).
I'm happy new players, (especially ones from other clubs) are leading the way.
Went to training this morning to watch the boys in the first session if the year. Some notes below.
Started out with a 2km time trial. Notes on the placings and some times below:
1st: Steele 5.54. Had a 60-70m lead the whole time.
2nd; Freeman 6.08. Also had a 60-70m lead from 3rd the whole time.
3rd: Mantiet 6.22. Fell straight into third from early on and held it. Was clear third for most of it, but got gobbled up towards the very end. Held off Varcoe in a sprint at the end.
4th: Varcoe 6.23.
5th: Pendles
6th: Crisp
2nd Last: Kennedy. Struggled the whole way. Was back with three ruckman for most of the run, made some pushes to get back to the running pack, but eventually taken over again in the last 200m. Biggest weakness of his game, and likely to see him not make it.
Last: Grundy 7.24. A long way back.
Maynard and Goodyear were in the top half, which doesn't say much for the rest of the list (as Hine himself said Maynard isn't good aerobically..)
Other notes:
Not really much else exciting to report on - most the drills were pretty small / tight with no real opportunity to shine. As everyone says, Freeman looked really sharp - a lot of energy, really nice skills (surprisingly) and just got busy all the time. Crisp looked pretty good a lot of the session as well.
Scharenberg just ran laps, Swanny just sprinted laps, Thomas and Young mostly just ran laps, Mason Cox just ran laps for the whole session (I think he had some injury in his hand). No signs of Marsh, Moore, De Goey.
running capacity is massive in the game now look what Port have been able to do
Hopefully BK had an illness because if not he wont be playing seniors
Just spoke to PK cousin he was at training and told me he ran another PB , taking off a couple of seconds ! They did more running after and he was their amongst them all and looked really fresh and fit ! To all you collingwood supporters you should be excited with PK fitness but more importantly his footy smarts as he is someone who can actually play and has natural ability. He reminds me of my favourite player from the cats Steve J - freakish ability !
That's a personal best? I was at training this morning too and whilst PK did better than before Christmas when he finished last on two occasions, today he only beat Dwyer, Mason Cox and Grundy. Even Sharenberg beat him home. If he ran a PB this morning I'm a monkey's uncle.
I'll just add that the final finishers were Witts, Sharenberg, Karnezis, Dwyer, Mason Cox and Brodie Grundy last.
I've posted a full report over at Nick's BB: http://www.magpies.net/nick/bb/viewtopic.php?p=1544015#1544015

You got most of those placings correct Jelly Bean and normally I wouldn't correct a training report, but in this case your report has brought about a Ben Kennedy feeding frenzy. Ben did not finish 2nd last and he wasn't in the last 6 according to my notes from this morning. You're probably right that he was in the back group however. I watched him closely during the training drills and whilst he mightn't be a great time trial performer, he got plenty of it and worked very hard.Went to training this morning to watch the boys in the first session if the year. I know Steele is an incredible endurance runner but to put it in context this is the pace the best marathoners run for over 42km. This isn't a slight on AFL players, it's more that I'm amazed what the best marathoners are capable of.5 : 54 is a ridiculous time, even for an AFL mid

I'm at training. Will provide more detailed report later but some time trial info:
1st Steele 5.54
2nd Freeman 6.08
3rd
Mantiet 6.22
Varcoe
Pendles
Crisp
Kennedy
Grundy 7.24
Hmmm, okay - there seems to be some doubt as to what I saw (and now I am doubting it as well).
Let's give Kennedy the benefit of the doubt in this instance. I will update my post.
Thanks Neil.
How did you get the Time Trial Times?
