i once met a Byron Scammer ..... tried to get me to invest in these magnetic wrist strap things for balance ..

My mates dad was on the Freo board so we went to a Freo Melbourne supporters event before going out. He was one of the only guys to talk to us, I was only there for free drinks. Half arsed followed his career after that.

Brayshaw certainly saying all the right things to make an interstate club feel comfortable they will be getting a career player.

Brayshaw’s upside he could be a Rory Sloane. Loyal, hard nosed competitor, who never has a hair out of place, and is a genuine leader within the club.

If Brisbane thought he could be all of that why wouldn’t they take him. More likely to be a Jack Newnes type in my book.

This next 9 days are gonna kill me. Usually by now most drafts top 7-8 are usually pretty settled and most people have a fair idea who was going where. This year Seems quiet the opposite. Who will go 1? Will north take Stephenson/brayshaw/cerra at 4? Will freo take another mid at 5 or Fogarty/naughton? Same with the pies. So many questions still to be awsnered the suspense is killing me

I love Jack Newnes. Sorry, I didn’t mean to be disparaging to our Jack.

My point is Brayshaw will be a very handy player at the very least. But he could morph into a top 3 midfielder in the competition with his work ethic. And if Brisbane think they can see that as more likely than unlikely to occur then why wouldn’t they take him.

From memory Newnes was a top end runner at the combine as a junior, just like Brayshaw. I think he ran top 5 in his draft year (behind Gaff). Our Jack has the aggressive edge though that coaches can’t teach. When we played Collingwood this year I thought Newnes performance was above the likes of the more fancied Treloar.

Cal Twomey now saying that there is talk that Brayshaw will be pick #1...
Won’t surprise me at all..... My Mail all the way from Edinburgh is that he won’t get to our picks. Someone tasty will drop to us.

I still really think the big question for the saints is "do we take Stephenson?" because he is looking increasingly likely to make it to us, IMO

I am sure we have put a lot of work into him and will be making a well informed decision.. just seems a very hard one to rate/rank

JAIDYN Stephenson's manager Robbie D'Orazio has played down concerns over a medical irregularity that surfaced recently for the top-10 draft prospect.

Stephenson has been touted as an early selection for this season's NAB AFL Draft for several years, having burst onto the scene as a 16-year-old playing with the Eastern Ranges.

He enjoyed a strong season this year, moving into the midfield from half-forward and averaging 23 disposals a game at TAC Cup level.

However, some clubs have requested extra information in recent weeks regarding an irregularity with Stephenson's heart that came to their attention at the NAB AFL Draft Combine medical testing last month.

Some clubs have expressed more concern than others over the issue that only arose in recent weeks, with some less worried.

D'Orazio, from Connors Sports Management, said the 18-year-old had seen specialists and had been cleared to pursue an AFL career.

"On medical advice that we've received there is no risk in picking Jaidyn Stephenson in this year's draft," D'Orazio told AFL.com.au.

"The information that has been received and handed to the AFL clearly states that the specialists are happy for Jaidyn to enter the AFL and have a long career.

"We can only go on the advice given from the experts in this field."

Stephenson finished his season in brilliant form, kicking three goals in a best-on-ground display at the MCG in the NAB All Stars game on Grand Final morning.

He then backed up that performance by showing his athleticism at the draft combine, where he ran the 20-metre sprint in 2.95 seconds and in the top-10 in the new Yo-Yo endurance test.

He has been tipped as a possible top-10 pick ahead of next week's national draft.

Stephenson’s heart has obviously not caused him a problem throughout Jnr footy so I’m happy to believe the doctors on this one.

Remember Josh Toy though, somehow he got to the AFL before them finding a serious problem with his heart.

Tasty Bonar?
I’m hoping for someone a bit more rock solid. Cerra or Dow....someone like that. One reason I was keen on Brayshaw.....won’t be a bust. I think we need more reliable depth before we start punting on the next Bont etc. Was warming a bit towards Stephenson before the news about his ticker. Probably means we will pass and he will drop to someone more likely to take a punt 15-20. Just my opinion.

I’d prefer for the club to take a conservative approach & pass on him. If he makes it to 7 that raises further concerns in itself given his talent.

* that, Steph if cleared has to be taken. He could be the best of the draft by a mile. He has superstar written all over him. Time to start rolling the dice on drafting our own Kelly, Fyfe, Danger type.
